When I was about 13 we took a trip to Colorado in a rented RV with other family members- 8 people total. We pulled one of those pop up trailers for extra sleeping area and another place to hang out and it never seemed crowded.

My wife and my best friend and his wife are planning on doing the same thing this summer.

We're all really excited about it. We're giving ourselves about 10 days as well. We've got several locations in mind that we're considering. Glacier park, Jackson hole and yellowstone with maybe a stop off at the Frio River on the way home. I'm not sure what all we're going to be able to do but I know the experience is going to be awesome.

Anyone else have helpful advice? Anyone been to glacier park?

I'm from Australia so giving advice might seem a bit weird but I was over there earlier this year and we drove from Dallas up there.. it took us basically 2 really decent days of driving to get there.. we had tents too as there was one family and then 4 of us who were friends and it worked out well. On the drive up we actually stayed somewhere in the middle of nowhere at a motel(we just went in and the dude said we could have two rooms for $50.. after we asked the cheapest he could do)

Obviously, the heart of Glacier NP is the Going to the Sun Road. There are many fine campgrounds close to the road. I recommend Avalanche Creek or Lake McDonald. If you want to really get away from it all, there are a couple of campgrounds north of Polebridge or head over to Many Glacier. The hiking in Glacier is rugged, so be prepared if you want to go somewhere other than the usual touristy trails.

(Side note: I saw my first wild wolf off of the Camas Road.)

I haven't been around Waterton much, but hear it's magnificent.

Not to turn this into a D&D thread, but everyone needs to go see Glacier NP soon before the glaciers melt completely.
