Maybe it did happen, which might be another reason to fire the AD.

Would like to know the story behind the brave kid (like a team manager) who leaked the video.

What a total piece of trash coach.

Saw the AD on ESPN yesterday. At the time Rutgers had decided to suspend and fine him p, plus mandated sensitivity training, etc., but not fire him. The AD defended their decision saying that it was Rice's "first offense."

Really? Dude didn't know kicking and firing a ball at a player and generally acting like a crazy person repeatedly is wrong until somebody corrects him?

Im sure he recruited kids that would not challenge his authority and would put up with his shenanigans.

I guarantee he didn't recruit the Yancey Gates types.

I can take the verbal abuse, but the physical abuse is a big NO NO!.....career or not.

I'm not saying they should have gone and beat his ass, but they could have stood up for themselves. It wouldn't really work if it was just one player...

But no you're right. That's perfectly normal to be berated, demeaned, have basketballs thrown at your face, called homophobic slurs... You're right, they shouldn't have done anything.......

How do the parents of the players feel? A coach is supposed to teach not bully and scare the kids.

i think it was taped by one of the assistant coaches, who was in charge of player development (and a former player), and he was the one who took it to the AD.. his contract with the school was not renewed.. i'm not sure if he gave it to the AD before or after he left their employment

I read a comment on youtube: Players can't say anything or hit back because if they do, he won't play you or release you from the team and say bye bye to your nba dreams. So that's why players can't complain or do anything.

    that could be the reason.

I get your point, but players that go to Rutgers don't have 'NBA dreams' lol.

As a Junior in high school, I had a football coach that was considered one of the all time greats in our area (not Houston). One time, he threw a football at me and hit me on the head when I wasn't looking (from just a short distance away and not too hard), and asked me if I was r****ded. I wasn't too terribly offended because that's just how he was. I told people and they just laughed it off. Truthfully, I didn't care that much, although it was a bit degrading (I wasn't that bad of a player either, relative to our team).

But had that old man ever physically hit me in an angry way, they would have had to pull me off him because he would have gotten a beat down.

That said, I realize these kids are in a completely different situation. College is not free like high school, and I wasn't potentially interviewing for a dream job.

You don't consider a football to your head as physically hitting you?

Wonder why no one thought about secretly taping this and sending it to the media sooner. I guess having someone sneak in with a camera is pretty difficult, but could be done IMO.
