When I think of all the crap we did in highschool, I am sooooo glad we didn't have the tools kids do today. Digital cameras, blogs, facebook, internets. It's a different world.

    What an awful story.

Schools need to implement a zero tolerance policy on all cyber bullying. And define it broadly.

Filming your roommate having sex is golden. Finding out that he is gay? Priceless. Doing it a 2nd time would just be stupid(Why would he want to watch 2 guys going at it unless he enjoyed it).

I wouldn't do it to my own roommate, but I would find it funny if someone I knew did it. I personally would feel awkward around my roommate afterwards since I discovered such a big secret about them in a way that completely violates his privacy.

The university should probably kick the kids out, and they should be put on probation.

You kind of skipped the "Sharing it on the internet? Caused Suicide." part, jackass.

My suspicion is that the gay aspect was only part of it. The fact that the kid was, by all accounts, painfully shy and had interests that wouldn't be considered "cool" by douchebags, as well as being the roommate of a guy who probably got jollies out of mentally torturing the kid leads me to believe that it was a combo of homophobia mixed with a lot of "pick on the nerd because he's different."

    From the article:
What was he doing on this website in the first place?

Sounds like he was/is struggling through is own sexual identity issues. That's usually the way it is with the people who are the most vocal opponents of homosexuality.....

I referred to it in my first post in this thread that it certainly wasn't funny now. In college and high school **** like this happened, and nobody committed suicide. I'm trying to be real about the situation. People in this thread want to ruin the lives of two kids who made a mistake. If the kid didn't commit suicide would everyone have this same reaction?

I actually had the same thought when reading that article. It seems to me that Ravi was also a closeted homosexual.

I understand that the Indian guy was the one who caused this but how was the Asian girl involved?

Bet you 100 bucks that the Asian girl gets 6 months probation and maybe some community service while the Indian dude gets at least 2-5 years in prison.

Anyways, man those two were cowards and hope they live with the fact that they essentially killed someone's son, maybe brother, and loved one.

    SIDENOTE from adeelsiddiqui's link:

Wow! I did not hear about this. That high school could be in debt for the next decade from the lawsuits. The majority of high school students are minors. Spying on minors. I wonder what happened. That principle and all the staff involved deserved to get fired and never be able to find a job again with a child pornographer label.

Ravi probably get onto his roommate's computer without him knowing and snooped around, and he probably saw in the bookmarks/history etc. that forum.

That guy sounds like a crap roommate.

I am glad you brought this up not because I agree with you but I think this does point out to a bigger problem with our society. For instance consider how many times we write "pics of GTFO" in this case this involved a gay male student but what if it involved a girl who killed herself because her roommate, and/or boyfriend, secretly videotaped her having sex.

Living in a dorm already you are giving up privacy. I caught my sophmore roommate and his girlfriend having sex many a time, to the point that they said they didn't care if I was there. Some people in my dorm said I should secretly videotape them, as his girlfriend was pretty hot. I didn't but even I will admit to joking about them to people who knew them. In hindsight though I can see how even doing that was an invasion of their privacy. Now put on top of that the capability of the things like YouTube to spread that info world wide I can see how privacy can be completely destroyed.

I feel sorry for the parents and the others, but whats wrong with these kids in general? I mean, after the Va tech shooting, i think i read a stat that said 25% of college students are on medications for anxiety and stuff like that. Now I don't know what was ever so hard about college, i thought it was the funniest part of my life even with the burden of playing ball and having a daughter being born my sophmore year. It seems these kids now can't handle hard times or adversity at all. For the parents to say they didn't know he was gay, thats a lack of commincation all the way around. Oh well, sympathy to the family.

From the story it sounds like it was her computer that they watched it on and which he uploaded the video to the web. If he did this without her knowledge I would say she is innocent but it sounds like she was complicit.

Not everyone has the same college experience. Sometimes it's hard dealing with being out of your comfort zone, and there is no shortage of social stress, in addition to the stress of your classes etc.

Thats okay, you've never been around me to feel awkward. I am certainly not the only person in here that would have found this funny if the kid hadn't killed himself. Its like the youtube video where the guys go into the roommates room with a camera to catch him jacking off and catch him watching gay p*rn and there is a guy under the desk. People didn't seem to have outrage over that(I don't know if it was discovered to be fake).

A kid is dead which is very sad. The two other kids shouldn't have done what they did(Hopefully they regret it).

What if she wasn't present during the viewing? Does she still get some sort of punishment?

I'd be hella pissed if someone used my laptop w/o my knowing and caused a death and me possibly going to jail because of it.
