A top U.S. military official confirmed Tuesday that U.S. intelligence assessed that Russia had offered to pay Taliban militants to kill American service members

According to the classified assessment, Russia’s GRU military intelligence agency paid members of Afghanistan’s Taliban movement to carry out lethal attacks on U.S. troops in that country.

The story is Trump didn't do anything. There is no consensus he was briefed

Secondly WHY ISN'T ANYONE PUSHING FOR A RESPONSE NOW?

And of course, trump's secretary of state declines Congress's request for testimony... you know, as part of their role in this constitutional government...

My gosh... how long and how many different stories have we heard before this?

Pentagon chief confirms he was briefed on intelligence about Russian payments to the Taliban

Why are you bumping this thread with this. We know that the CIA thought there were bounties. We know they told people. Also the story says there isn't any evidence of actual payments. It's the same **** bro

That's as far as the story is going apparently

Stop F*KN lying. There is evidence of the payments. Are you asking for video evidence? Did the govt have video evidence against John Gotti???

That assessment, the source said, was backed up by "several pieces of information" that supported the view that there was an effort by the Russian intelligence unit -- the GRU -- to pay bounties to kill US soldiers, including interrogation of Taliban detainees and electronic eavesdropping.

    From newroxfan's post

However, Esper also made clear that he has not seen intelligence that corroborates claims that American troops were killed as a result of the "bounty" payments
    _____________
Again why is there no push for retaliation?

    intelligence that collaborates <> evidence

there is evidence. interrogation and electronic surveillance are evidence.

Obama pulled the trigger on the OBL raid based on interrogation and electronic surveillance.

Citizens have been questioned based on interrogation and electronic surveillance.

    Bro

Maybe I was unclear. There has not been any clear corroboration that Americans were killed because of this. That's what this guy says and plenty others have said

Yall are all on New York Times dick when really they may have run the story too early. and now we'll never know what actually happened on the battlefield.

Still answer the question, why are no Congressmen asking for action against Russia?

so let's say authorities approach you and let you hear interviews and electronic surveillance that bounties have been paid for the murder of your family you'll tell them "no one has died yet that's a hoax and just drop the investigation"

or are you going to let your wife make the decision?

because if it was me I'll ask them to question the suspects or at least continue the investigation

So you disagree with Pentagon officials and intelligence agencies based on The New York Times? You don't know what was heard on wiretaps. But you're still missing the point its not that there weren't bounties offered it's none were paid

Secondly apparently that isn't enough for anyone to call for action as no one is.

I'm speaking in facts. Is anyone calling for retaliation? I'll answer for you since refuse to. No there isnt

From what I understand, there's been evidence of payments but no clear connection to deaths of U.S. military personnel. Sounds like it may be too ambiguous to take aggressive action legal or otherwise at this point, but it should still be taken pretty seriously if there have been actual exchange of money. Who knows, the payments could have been for future kills.

there's been evidence of payments for murder of US soliders but with no clear connection to any deaths

it doesn't have to be aggressive action

it can be queries, questions, more investigation

Lol, that's right, this is America we're talking about here.

You can't just up and violate the Russian GRUs rights to offer bounties and their hard earned rubles to arrange terrorist attacks on American soldiers without due process and probable cause - it's in the Constitution.
