Trump to the South Korean National Assembly

The Korean miracle extends exactly as far as the armies of free nations advanced in 1953 -- 24 miles to the north. There, it stops; it all comes to an end. Dead stop. The flourishing ends, and the prison state of North Koreasadly begins.

Workers in North Korea labor grueling hours in unbearable conditions for almost no pay. Recently, the entire working population was ordered to work for 70 days straight, or else pay for a day of rest.

Families live in homes without plumbing, and fewer than half have electricity. Parents bribe teachers in hopes of saving their sons and daughters from forced labor. More than a million North Koreans died of famine in the 1990s and more continue to die of hunger today.

Among children under the age of 5, nearly 30 percent of afflicted -- and are afflicted by stunted growth due to malnutrition. And yet, in 2012 and 2013, the regime spent an estimated $200 million -- or almost half the money that it allocated to improve living standards for its people -- to instead build even more monuments, towers and statues to glorify its dictators.

What remains of the meager harvest of the North Korean economy is distributed according to perceived loyalty to a twisted regime. Far from valuing its people as equal citizens, this cruel dictatorship measures them, scores them and ranks them based on the most arbitrary indications of their allegiance to the state. Those who score the highest in loyalty may live in the capital city. Those who score the lowest starve. A small infraction by one citizen, such as accidentally staining a picture of the tyrant printed in a discarded newspaper, can wreck the social credit rank of his entire family for many decades.

An estimated 100,000 North Koreans suffer in gulags, toiling in forced labor and enduring torture, starvation, rape and murder on a constant basis.

In one known instance, a 9-year-old boy was imprisoned for 10 years because his grandfather was accused of treason. In another, a student was beaten in school for forgetting a single detail about the life of Kim Jong Un.

Soldiers have kidnapped foreigners and forced them to work as language tutors for North Korean spies.

In the part of Korea that was a stronghold for Christianity before the war, Christians and other people of faith who are found praying or holding a religious book of any kind are now detained, tortured and in many cases, even executed.

North Korean women are forced to abort babies that are considered ethnically inferior. And if these babies are born, the newborns are murdered.

One woman's baby born to a Chinese father was taken away in a bucket. The guards said it did not "deserve to live because it was impure."

So why would China feel an obligation to help North Korea?

The horror of life in North Korea is so complete that citizens pay bribes to government officials to have themselves exported abroad as slaves. They would rather be slaves than live in North Korea.

To attempt to flee is a crime punishable by death. One person who escaped remarked, "When I think about it now, I was not a human being. I was more like an animal. Only after leaving North Korea did I realize what life was supposed to be."

What I find funny is that North Korea is known for their propaganda, so how fitting that they only invited a very small select group of media members to attend the Nuke Site Demo.. Thus being CNN, RT..

basically only the most prominent propagandist media members got the invite..

But yeah.. TRUMP is the one fooled? The guy who literally hours after the 'nuke site demolition' canceled the summit lolz.

Trump at the 72nd session UN General Assembly

No one has shown more contempt for other nations and for the wellbeing of their own people than the depraved regime in North Korea. It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans, and for the imprisonment, torture, killing, and oppression of countless more.

We were all witness to the regime’s deadly abuse when an innocent American college student, Otto Warmbier, was returned to America only to die a few days later. We saw it in the assassination of the dictator’s brother using banned nerve agents in an international airport. We know it kidnapped a sweet 13-year-old Japanese girl from a beach in her own country to enslave her as a language tutor for North Korea’s spies.

If this is not twisted enough, now North Korea’s reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles threatens the entire world with unthinkable loss of human life.

    Trump State of the union

But no regime has oppressed its own citizens more totally or brutally than the cruel dictatorship in North Korea.

Oh is that why he explictly stated that he wants Kim to keep his dictatoriship status because he feared a backing away from the the photo op meeting?

Do you seriously expect any journalist to say "thank you, but we will pass?"

That is some odd logic right there. Yes the media covered the event and the media stated their concerns that it was nothing more than a show.

That was last year buddy. When Turmp got the call that every US president gets that NK dictatoriship wants to meet the POTUS he suddenly did a 180 and couldn't speak I'll of the regime in regards to their human right violations. He was so naive he never knew that the NK leadership has always wanted to meet the US president.

He wants a legacy builder. You are not naive. You know the type of man Trump is. He 40 year public persona is obvious and a open book.

THIS year he met with several North Korean escapees. Some were too scared to be on camera so he limited talks to them in another room.

In only 1.5 years he has put a bigger spotlight on the human rights violations and cruel conditions the DPRK exists in than any other president in my lifetime.

I didn't know exposing north koreans to western ideas, by possible small acts such as implanting western burger joints on north korean soil, or creating pathways for the north korean civilians to truly learn and experience other nations cultures such as having more access to south korean media and ways of life was so awful in your eyes.

We can either have a war with north korea to remove the dictatorship, causing millions of causalities.
    or
We can have diplomacy. Negotiate denuclearization (securing us) & creating partnerships/trade that allow north koreans exposure to western ideas and democracy. Helping North Koreans see beyond the bubble the Kim regime have put them in, which over a period of time will surely lead to them ending the dictatorship themselves via dissent.

What Kim is going is brilliant for his cause. He wants the world hegomony off his ass in regards to the human rights violations .

He understands that there is currently a superficial president who doesn't care about anything beyond appearances.

So why not get the world's hegomonic power off your ass by appeasing the superficial presidents' base desires without giving up anything of true substance?

    Diplomacy isn't superficial photo ops.

Kim noticed that the desire of a photo op has lead Trump into completely disregarding his harsh stance on human rights violations that previous US presidents have stated also.

He can continue to have these superficial talks while the current hegomonic power eases off on their human rights violation message without giving up anything of substance. All he needs to do is have these superficial "talks".

The release of political prisoners from NK isnt novel and harsh words of NK's human rights violations have been more eloquently stated by previous presidents.

The only novel thing here is the face to face meeting which only rewards NK leadership and enables their human rights violations to continue.

To believe they will genuinely open up is naive. They have requested to meet with the US president many times before.

Why would the "world apology tour" president say no? Doesn't that contridict the Right's characterization of Obama? You don't think there was pragamtic reason for Obama and career diplomats to say no? Is Obama now a war hawk who loves human right violations?

Your mind geniunly can't be the this simple.

If previous adminstrations thought the NK regime were genuine with their talks, they would have answered the call.

This only empowers Kim's regime .

Otto would like some of that novel prisoner release action. Obama ignored the DPRK focusing on regime change and giving Iran billions hoping they moderate.

Trump is going against his base here (America First!) and using political capital and valuable time to put the world's biggest spotlight on a terrible prison country.

Saying he hasn't done anything or hasn't shown care for the people is clearly counterfactual.

Couldn't you and LosPollosRetardos duke it out some more?
