I disagree. A pitcher like Garland can come into a new situation and be competitive. Further, a 4.45 ERA is better than Hampton and Ortiz. It would be an improvement and a better chance of being in the ballgame in the late innings.
what the hell does that even mean? "appear likely"...so the d'backs may or may not trade garland and/or doug davis.
Why would the Dbacks not trade them? They are struggling financially and these guys aren't helping them win now so why not get prospects for them and shed salary? Did Poopera get hired by the Dbacks or something?
Those 3 pitchers are indeed less likely to be moved, but if those teams play hardball and the Astros really think they have a chance then the Astros will have to move one of them. A middle of the rotation starter like Garland is going to merit a mid-level talent in return. Basically Norris, Seaton and Lyles are all mid to high-mid level talents. No doubt the trio are the Astros best pitching prospects but none of them are BA top-50 level, yet at least. None of them currently profile as Aces. The Astros could try and deal some of the other good young Lexington starters, Brad D. or Robert Bono, but I doubt that would be enough for Garland.
great. but we still gota get rid of A. boone( i kno he had the whole surgery thingy) G. blum(hate the guy not athletic and not doin n e thingy offensively my opinion C. coste(instead of goin young and talented we go subpar H.quintero(every1 should agree wit this 1 T.byrdak(the guy is trash. im tired of seeing him come in 2 face 1 lefty n walk him D.brocail(get younger call sum1 up n give them a shot) J.micheal.(some1 better) M.hampton(y did we get a guy past his prime) B.moehler(not bad but shouldnt b a starter if u want 2 b a playoff team) this is my opinion im a astro fan and we just need upgrades from those players. i think the phillies are gonna win the chapionship this year. n if u look at there startling lineup n players compared 2 ours u will c y i wont those players 2 go. cardinals made upgrades n y cant we. even if were not the strongest team in the playoffs n e thing can happen just make the playoffs
The Irony of this statement is just epic. Shows how texting and instant messaging has changed our writing significantly.
Blum is having a fairly decent season offensively, better than Ty. Defensively he's no worse than what the team has paraded out there the last several years. He's had a few game winners too. Boone isn't holding the team back, so I don't see why it matters if they give him a chance to come back. He could be a decent bat off the bench, perhaps an upgrade over what we have. And Byrdak has been pretty solid out of the pen. 3.47 ERA, 1.97 BAA, 1.29 WHIP.
3 central...my F5 key will be worn out...actually excited because after being embarrased 22-3 in the last two days and 58-26 in the last 7 games I really think something may happen either way!
interesting... very interesting. all this talk surrounding halladay and the blue jays made me wonder if there was any interest in rolen. his slugging and power are way down but he'd instantly upgrade two positions as i would hope they'd immediately move the blum/keppinger platoon to second base and bench matsui. you could do worse than a lineup of bourn, tejada, berkman, lee, rolen and pence. here's hoping they look internally for pitching help.

Why should they wait until Monday to cut him? They need arms now due to the bullpen stress the past week.
