I don't keep up with who is looking to run in 2008 when we're 3 years away. That's silly. That being said, the political futures markets have McCain and Giuliani leading the pack. Either would stomp Hilary and crew in my opinion.
not that you asked me, most online polls currently show both RudyG and Condi garnering widespread support among repubilcans of all stripes, from social conservatives to WOT types. mccain runs back in the pack.
That's easy! She's tough, she's well-trained, and she wields one hell of a leash. What more could the Republicans ask for?
Hey, if he were running against Feingold, so much for the divorce issue. Were it not for Giuliani's "baggage," which would matter much less to Democrats than to Republicans, in the main, he would be a strong candidate for the GOP. Keep D&D Civil.
Condolezza Rice? Are you fa-reaking serious? Oh please oh please oh please. I would LOVE to see a cold, ugly, incompotent, war-mongerer represent the GOP.
what do the first two have to do with anything? sounds sort of sexist to me- are you saying only beautiful women should be allowed to run for president?
No, it has everything to do with the fact that elections are television-driven. Need I reference the infamous split between television and radio audiences with the Nixon/Kennedy debates? Lieberman was a dumb pick because he was a human version of Droopy the Dog. People want to vote for leaders who inspire them, and part of that inspiration is how they strike them on TV. When's the last time we had a bald president elected? When's the last time a fat president was elected? As for her being cold, that has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with personality. George Bush lost to Clinton during the town-hall style debate when he kept looking at his watch and couldn't relate to the audience. Conversely, Clinton seemed empathetic and told the woman he "felt your pain." Clinton wins in a landside. George W. is a bonafide moron. He is an imbecile. You can't disput that. But the media always talks about him being "folksy" and relating to the "common man." The personality a presidential candidate projects is often more important than their platform (Al Gore). Condolezza Rice comes across as detached, emotionally hollow, calculating, and shrew. Not exactly someone you'd want to invite in your living room. Remember the NY shoes/Katrina event? You have got a ton of balls to accuse me of sexism. Have you ever taken a women and gender studies class? Do you even know the differences between second and third wave feminism? Materialism feminism and eco-feminism? All I did was assess her viability as a candidate given the current political climate. She is an incompotent leader, she doesn't have a shred of humanity in her demeanor, and she looks bad on camera. You are just making an empty attack on me because you have no response of substance. So before you level another accusation at me, try to up SOME effort into putting some reasoning behind your libel.
LOL. Psshh. You are the present day political equivalent of the "poor mountain whites" of the ante-bellum south. Not fortunate enough to benefit from your party's privileges but along for the ride nonetheless.
basso, you've already lost this argument. Bull4 made it clear what he was saying the first time, he made it twice as clear, yet again. Like polishing a clean window. Look, if not here, then in another thread on this page, I referred to Leiberman as having all the charisma of a constipated water buffalo. He was a horrible choice, and it had nothing to do with being Jewish, imo. Kerry was a horrible choice for Democrats last time. We took an election that should have seen Bush beaten by a dead dog, and managed to blow it. I didn't vote for the chump in the primaries, but he still would have been better than the fool in the White House. Rice would be a horrible choice for the GOP in '08, and it has nothing to do with her being female. I hope you folks nominate her. I really do. Make things easy for us. Please. Pretty please. Rice in '08. Road kill. Keep D&D Civil.
