I'll be there! 3rd row, too! I have already seen them once on this tour. My wife and I (along with a work buddy) flew to Denver to see them at Red Rocks last month. The show was great and that venue (Red Rocks) was SO FRICKEN' COOL!
I'll be at the Dallas show Sunday evening on the 8th row in front of Alex. Alex is going to invite me on to the stage and we are going to perform "Tom Sawyer" together dammit! I'm serial.
I thought this thread was about joining a Frat or Sorority. Then I noticed that it was posted by Jeff. I thought...'Jeff the Tank? Better check this out!' Kind of a letdown from my imagination.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn that was a goooooood show! It was a wow Just incredible! I'm very thankful I got to go! If you weren't there, you missed an incredible, performance by true legends.
I saw em on the Signals tour. Check out their set list for that tour. Intro (This was the first time the "Three Stooges Theme" was used.) The Spirit Of Radio Tom Sawyer Freewill Digital Man Subdivisions Vital Signs The Camera Eye (This was an abbreviated version which was later dropped from all the Germany dates.) Closer To The Heart Chemistry (This was dropped from all shows beginning on May 6th, 1983.) The Analog Kid Broon's Bane The Trees Red Barchetta The Weapon (With the "Count Floyd" introduction.) New World Man Limelight Countdown Encore: 2112 Overture The Temples Of Syrinx Xanadu La Villa Strangiato In The Mood YYZ Drum Solo YYZ
Here are some pics. Can you tell I was on the left side? Sorry for the quality. My phone is not a very good camera.
Just checking in live from the Dallas show after first set. Totally awesome show so far. I'm right facing the huge speaker. Ear plugs are a must. Lots of fun here. Cya.
heh, enjoy surfie...IM sure its great. This is actually the first time I have missed them in the last 4 times they came thru. Ive really been tryin not to miss them since you never know when Neil will decide to quit touring. Im somewhat torn, I wish I had gone, but as I ended up in the hospital over the weekend with an irregular heartbeat, Im kinda glad I didnt scrape up the bucks for tix just for them to go to waste due to me being unable to go. in case anyone wonders, Im fine, they just had to adjust my meds
Just got home. Luckily, I took the day off tomorrow. What a party that was! The second set with the whole Moving Pictures album played was effin awesome. The Superpages.com center was packed and most of the lawn was full. Everyone even stayed at the very end to see the send-off video...which was pretty damn funny. I loved the custom videos they made and the live video in picture tubes and all was top notch. I loved Camera Eye and how they did some of the songs like La Villa Strangiato and Working Man with unique intro arrangements. There was a slight problem with the video screen during the time machine video showing Neil on guitar, Ged on drums, and Alex on bass while flashing through time with them appearing as kids, teens, monkeys, etc. . A whole vertical section of the video was missing blank...but it was only a slight inconvenience. It was fixed after that video. Kind of weird. I took my earplugs out second set and had no problems. No ringing in the ears or anything. I mean the PA speaker was right in front of me and was HUGE! But, the sound mix was so good with no distortion at all...that the ears welcomed every sound that came out. The 8th row seats were really good. Alex was right there. My bro got some excellent pics and vid with his high end camera. I got crap on my iPhone 3GS probably albeit did some shots and video. The band was on big-time tonite and Ged's voice sounded great. They just seem to get better with each tour. God...what a great time I had! I was just soaking it all in. I think that may have been my 15th show or right around there. I guess I'm going to be up for a while here as I'm riding on adrenaline.
Great show saturday night. Instrumentally they sounded amazing. On certain songs the voice didnt sound too great though. Its strange cause he was hitting the notes just the sharpness has faded. I still thought it was great and recommend that others see them if ya get the chance.
I thought that, too: He can still hit the high notes, but it's really other areas that he should sharpen up. I think that, even though he's 57 years old, a vocal coach could really help him improve.
