Though, for those of you that think that the members of Rush don't smoke dope, consider that they allowed Alex to "sing" during one of their sets. This is kind of like when The Beatles let Ringo sing a couple of tunes...they had to be stoned out of their minds when they decided to let that happen.
Alex has always been allowed to sing. They just turn his microphone volume way down or off. The exception was Toronto SARSFest. If you watch Rush perform "Freewill", then you will hear that Alex's microphone is at the same volume level as Geddy's. He actually sounded pretty good singing along with Geddy. Before that, I had never heard his singing voice before. Alex also tends to fake sing a lot of parts if you haven't noticed. For example, he will fake sing some vocals which have been pre-recorded and played back during a song where voice layering occurs...like from songs off the VT album. He's a regular comedian...that guy. The guys used to get high back in the day. I think I heard that after Neil's wife/daughter died...he dabbled in cocaine. I don't think these guys were always on the straight and narrow. They just didn't get consumed by drugs to where it affected the band performances or band in general. I doubt they were doing heroine or anything but they dabbled.
Yeah... I'm pretty sure "A Passage To Bangkok" is about tourism or something... Pretty sure indeed....
I'm not a huge Roll The Bones fan, but they played the best 3 songs from it. My buddy who went to the show with me has decided that he is going to visit his grandmother in Philly when Rush plays there. He loved the show that much.
