I wouldn't want to work for or give money to someone who is openly sexist and racist. Is that what you mean by "political crap?"
I mean extraneous considerations that have nothing to do with the actual function of the job. You know, political crap. Not sports stuff. Dave, if you would blackball someone based on politics. Would you refuse to hire someone based on their opinions on sex and race?
It wont make him a good person in your opinion. I'm certainly no Rush Limbaugh fan, what he is in truth is bread and circuses, he's lowest common denominator entertainment nothing more. But he's not going to be allowed to do anything that illegally discriminates regardless of his personal opinions. Even if he were majority owner he'd have a fiduciary responsibility to do his best to deliver wins, despite his personal views But you dont see the danger of imposing your own standards on what's essentially a public position (owner of a major sports franchise of a city)? If he can run the team, provide improvements and get wins what possible difference does it make?
The thing is if they are sexist and/or racist but kept that to themselves then I wouldn't know how they felt. If they went on a national radio show and announced it repeatedly over the course of over a decade I would know. I would also know it's something they feel strong about since it is a recurring subject for them. I would not want that person working for me for multiple reasons.
Rush Limbaugh is a rabid, devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I would imagine that he is close enough to the Rooneys to have picked up on some of their operating principles that have made them such a successful franchise for the last 30 years.
