And I'm not sure I'd categorize Rush's past comments about drug addicts as "concern". More like disdain.
Damn no edit. As soon as I described my mother as only "expressing concern," I knew it would go down this path. She criticizes the drinking of others while remaining blind to the absurdity of her past behavior. Maybe she truly doesn't remember. I think it makes her feel better to observe these problems that other people have. It distances it from her. I was trying to be gentle with my mother and I've watered down my point. I can readily understand and easily accept Rush's explanation because I've lived with that kind of reasoning for 25 years or more. At least, Rush has a grip on his mechanism of denial.
Rush is a scum (to put it mildly). People like him never get my sympathy. He is a fraud and should be treated likewise. He would have concealed his rotten life style if he had his way. That man is evil - evil. He is selfish, uncompassionate prick, and he deserves the Old Mosaic law of "An eye for an eye". He put people down when they were down (how dare him) and now he deserves and infinite worse. This is not the end - I am 97% convinced that he will regress in his fight against illegally acquire drugs. I say this because Karma does not lie - God is love but not a fool. People will pay for their deeds here on earth first (for sure) and then beyond later (depending on true and irreversible repentance). I pray he is charge with some sort of drug trafficing and he eventually goes to jail so that he will get to commensurate with good old Tyrone and hopefully then he will get it.
Big words from a man who has to lie to back up his statements. I think I'm gonna reread my Franken book to be reminded of nonchallant he and his "fact checker" were about getting so many statistics, dates, history, etc wrong. I didn't feel this way at first, but after seeing how he came out without having gained any perspective, and lying about how he never said terrible things about people who used drugs since he got hooked in 1995, I too hope the feds find something to pin on him. He is a hypocrite. He has been one before, like b****ing about "entitlement" programs when he himself was on wellfare for a while.
I gather that you are mixing the threads in this response. I didn't defend Singer; I only protected his job.
Honestly, who cares what this cretin does or doesn't do? Who cares what he says or thinks or swallows or eats? His listeners are incorrigible molasses brains who face a tough choice after his show ends: Wheel of Fortune or circle-the-word puzzle? Debating this quandry usually consumes twenty minutes or so, and fearing they'd have missed most of the story line, in my limited experience they figure they'd be safer going with the puzzle. And that usually ties them up for the rest of the night. I mean, have you seen some of those puzzles? They're TOUGH! Backwards words, and diagonals, too. The problem is, the crayon's so thick it tends to obscure some of the letters when you circle a word. Next thing you know you've got your graham crackers and your nebutol and it's time for bed. Maybe I'll watch spinnin' wheel tomorrow instead. That's a good show.
Money Matters Authorities Eye Whether Rush Limbaugh Laundered Money Used to Pay for Drugs By Brian Ross ABCNEWS.com Nov. 18— Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh may have violated state money-laundering laws in the way he handled the money he used to buy the prescription drugs to which he was addicted, law enforcement officials in Florida and New York told ABCNEWS. A conviction on such charges in Florida would be a first-degree felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Limbaugh returned to the airwaves this week after five weeks of rehabilitation for his admitted addiction to prescription painkillers. His lawyer denied today there was any foundation for a money-laundering prosecution. "There's no basis for these charges. He has not committed any acts of money laundering and he absolutely denies it," lawyer Roy Black told ABCNEWS. "I can assure you — and Rush assures the listeners to his radio station — when we can, we will tell the story, and he will tell it himself. Everybody will see what has really gone on here." Limbaugh makes an estimated $35 million a year and had no shortage of legally earned money to the buy the painkillers to which he became addicted. Authorities say they became aware two years ago, during an investigation of New York bank US Trust, that Limbaugh had taken between 30 and 40 cash withdrawals from his account in amounts just under $10,000. Banks must file a report to the government if someone withdraws more than $10,000 at once. Limbaugh's lawyers confirm that as part of US Trust's service, a bank employee personally delivered cash to Limbaugh at his New York studio in amounts of $9,900 or so. "That in itself is a suspicious activity: They are structuring their transaction to avoid reporting to the government, and the bank is required to file with the federal government something called a suspicious activity report," said Jack Blum, an expert on financial crimes. Limbaugh's lawyers say it was US Trust that suggested the arrangement. In July 2001 the bank paid a $10 million fine because of the Limbaugh transactions and many others like it. Limbaugh's name was not made public at the time but officials told ABCNEWS details were forwarded to state and federal investigators in Florida. "Now the problem will be: Did he then assist his drug supplier in hiding the proceeds from the government?" said Blum. Limbaugh's lawyers say he did not do that and that he is being falsely accused by those who want to force him off the air. Officials say a decision on whether to prosecute on money-laundering charges will be made in the next few weeks.
i was listening to his show yesterday and just thought it was funny to hear him saying "jail time is not the answer for drug addicts" over and over again.
One epiphany down, 999,999 to go! Who knows...after 20 years, Rush might turn into a human being after all!
