Affirmative Action in the job market has nothing to do with winning and losing or passing and failing. Or better yet maybe you would support redrawing congressional districts to ensure minority representation.
Just more criticism of the US, even bringing up slavery... The US is the only country with the resources, ability, and will to do this. Our democracy works pretty well. Surely you don't think Syria should be heading this? Or France? Russia, which is a dying country?
Congressional districts are redrawn to ensure minority representation. That's why there are so many disctricts that aren't even competitive on both sides. And the US Constitution protects minority rights, and minority in this case doesn't just mean race, it means viewpoints.
Yes, I think this is a good idea. Let's have representation be about skin color rather then about a free flowing exchange of ideas. GerryMandering is a great concept. DD
Yes, but don't bs around the issue, you know what gerrymandering means in this country. And DaDakota, quit being a dumbass, I'm only pointing out the hypocracy of conservatives on this issue.
You will really stop at nothing to insert racial topics into threads. This is perhaps your most spurious correlation yet (and that is saying something). Peter, don't confuse 'minority rights' with 'minority handouts'. Oh but I see your reasoning here. Since there was slavery in the time of Abraham in ancient Mesopotamia, near the Tigris and Euphrates, affirmative action is needed in post-war Iraq in order to balance out those historical inequities. By allowing them preferential admission into Baghdad University, this will appease the 'minorities' and their complaining and excuses will subside temporarily. It all makes sense now. I also think slave reparations are in order. Let's see if you took the value of one hardened piece of sand, used for currency in these ancient time, and compounded that at a 5% rate of return over 5,000 years, then the United Nations should pay out 8.84 zillion zillion dollars to the slave beneficiaries. It all makes perfect sense.
Well anyways, I don't want to talk about affirmative action, the point was about minority rights being protected, and they should be. The comparison should be to the US Constitution, not to affirmative action.
No I don't think Syria, France or Russia should head this. I think Iraqis should head this, and the U.S. along with every other country in the UN should give whatever help they can. I didn't bring up Slavery to bash the U.S. just to show that early in democracies mistakes can be made. We made some, and there is no doubt that the Iraqis will too. I just think that the mistakes are the Iraqis to make.
For someone who misuses the word as much as you do, you should really learn how to spell 'hypocrisy'. I know, I know, it's not your fault. It never is...
I always know what will bring you out. You're so preditable. Read my previous posts dumbass. And another thing, quit making an ass out of you, I've never argued for reprarations so don't assume I favor them, in fact as I stated earlier, I was pointing out the hypocracy of the policy.
Where are minority rights specifically protected in the constitution? Besides Civil Right, which are rights everyone should have.
So that's what Tom DeLay has been up to the past few months! Good to see he is looking out for minority groups!
I don't want to debate affirmative action either, I'm just pointing out that is what you are arguing for in Iraq.
Me arguing with pgabriel on anything is the equivalent of Albert Einstein engaging in a scientific debate with Moochie Norris.
Bottom line is there needs to be a seperation of church and state. Get the mullahs out of the education system and protect everyone's rights in Iraq. Eventually, the muslim faith will lose it's power base as people get more and more freedoms and their quality of life goes up, and they see the reason it goes up is not the religious leaders, but the working democracy, religion will lose more and more power. And that is a very very very very good thing. DD PS. Pgabrial, it is my right to be a dumbass, but it is not your right to call me one....see the difference?
Yes it would be a very very very very good thing for people like Hakeem the Dream to lose his faith. We can all see what a horrible change for the worse happened to him after he increased his Muslim faith. Maybe you mean extremists, If so then you can disregard my post.
Not at all. We want to limit the rise of extremists in the new government. I'm not sure how that compares to increasing minorities in corporations.
