And you know all this from watching him play a little less than 3 months in the NBA. Wow, you should be a scout. NOT. Overrated? That remains to be seen. Please tell me what college player came into the NBA with a post game that translated directly to the NBA and started tearing it up right away? Those are very few and far between because it takes time and there's a learning curve longer than 3 months. It's a moot point regardless because Alexander is a 6'8 small forward. I don't expect him to post up too often. And his athleticism that was superior in the college level is still superior to about 75-80% of the league which is quite a bit better than "par".
Have you watched him in college? I doubt it. His jumpshot needs alot of improvement. He doesnt have a post game. And his athletism would have garned him some PT.
all valid points, but he does get some PT. he's like many other average rookies - he has some solid games and then some turd games. He seems to have way more bad games than good, but he's throwing out some decent ones. but as balelr4life alludes to above, Mike Conley's a full year ahead of Joe on the get up to speed curve and isn't showing squat. What he does have is youth, as he's still younger than Joe...but not ridiculously so. It must be a real salary dump move, as I wouldn't trade Alexander straight up for Conley at this point, much less add in Sessions (who granted, also is struggling).
If Ramon Sessions is available like the article indicates and the Rockets haven't inquired about him then I would be disappointed in management.
Sessions shoots 15% for 3-pointers (less than half of what Rafer shoots) and Luke averages more turnovers than Rafer in less minues. Not to mention stats aren't everything. If you expect Rafer to shoot 50% from the floor with 20ppg then go to San Antonio because they have a point guard for you. Yes Rafer is mediocre at best, I'm not exactly the president of his fan club myself. But your assessment is ridiculous. Neither of this guys even have any experience on a winning team, at least Rafer has played with us against the Jazz, and before you bring up his playoff stat, let me ask you if you remember how much we felt his absense in Utah. By the way here is Ridnour's stats for his single pay off series a few years ago: 39% FG 24% 3pt 4assists 10 pts ....
No, they are not. The stats you provided are inconclusive offensively (at best) and they certainly don't account for defense and salary. Ridnour is one of the worst defensive point guards in the league, is not a good outside shooter and makes nearly $ 2 million more a year. As others have pointed out, Sessions is a horrible three point shooter, which is needed in this offense. Sessions is better from the standpoint of his salary slot, but he's buried on the bench for a reason.
I never thought much of alexander. He's a straight line guy. The nba on thewing, u have to be able to change directions. What's how u get separation from guys. He shouldn't have been taken that high anyway.
Ridnour has an UNdeserved reputation as a 3pt shooter. I dont see Alexander being much of a star small forward. Nor do I see him doing the undersized power porward Jason Maxiell -Carl Landry type role either. Just a slightly more talented Darvin Ham right now, but he's still only halfway through his rookie season.
