When I say defer, I meant with low-post touches. Z-Bo would get a LOT fewer with Howard around. Don't know if he would handle it well. In today's NBA, two low-post guys on the floor at once doesn't work unless one of them is adaptable and versatile (like Pau). Well, maybe I'm wrong about GMs. Money is definitely a big consideration. Z-Bo is a better player right now, but I wouldn't want him unless he was a short-time rental and I had a big need at PF. Next year and beyond, I question how good he will play after signing long-term.
I understand that worry. He's actually been playing extremely well for the last 2-3 years, but his rebounding rate has climbed 1-2 more boards a game in his contract year. I made a thread about how the Rockets should go after him, so my love for the man is well-documented. I think the negativity surrounding his name tends to make people undervalue him. It'll be interesting to see what he commands in the open market this year, especially with the new CBA.
Magic would win big if they make this move. Gives them an outside shot of making noise in the Eastern Finals. Typically, a frontcourt with two guys that need to stay anchored to the low blocks doesn't work well - ends up clogging the paint and makes it easier for opponents to double team.
Dont think Zbo and Dwight can co-exist in the paint. They need some one who can hit long jumpers. A better version of Ryan Anderson.
