It just hit me... We have this crazy unprecedented media. The Chinese coverage of Yao brings a new element to us fans. Almost no other American pro teams sports fans can relate.
It could also refer to the fact that the Rockets only have 3 plays, an isolation for Bonzi, an isolation for TMac, and an isolation for Yao. Over the last 3 years they've only had 2 plays, iso for TMac and iso for Yao. So maybe TMac is sick of isolations being the only source of offense, and "you" refers to whoever the Rockets are playing against. That's probably looking into it too much, especially it came from the Hoopsworld of newspapers, Sina.
talk about being lost in translation.... First I cannot see this happening... BUT if it did happen I would hope T-Mac would have had something tougher to say to Yao than "You will be iso-ed by us!"..
Funny how everyone is so quick to discount Sina...when I think they give more inside access than the Chronicle by a long shot. The Chronicle writers are all in the organizations pocket....Sina..not so much. And, I would not put it past that baby Tmac to get mad at Yao for basically calling him soft. Because ....he is.... DD
it means: tmac is pissed that yao keeps publicly bashing all his "teammates". if he continues the banter, they (the team) will isolate him. it makes sense. but not sure... they kinda won that game
Yao called the entire team soft, including himself. Yall need to stop reaching for problems. Take it easy, it's just a damn basketball game.
It did not happen. Sina is pulling this out of its azz. Tmac and Yao are pretty tight. No way this happened especially after a win.
Sina probably made this up to make T-Mac look bad. We all know YOFs want T-Mac gone so Yao can be the undisputed leader.
This story sounds pretty far-fetched. However, sina has surprised this board with many accurate scoops in the past. I think they have earned our respect enough to wait and see if another source confirms this before discounting it altogether.
Yao called the whole team soft including himself, but he did it after Tmac played like a wimp and quit on the team. So whether he directed it at TMac or not it certainly implicated Tmac as a softee. Add that with the fact the media was already calling Tmac a wimp, "the type of person who would have jumped on the boat with the women and children and save himself" and it only compounded the problem. The fact is Tmac is soft and whether Yao said it or not many people are already well aware of it. Yao loves this team, every loss pains him. It was never more obvious than towards the end of the Dallas game when you could see Yao fighting back tears. And only a few seats down you could see Tmac sitting in his thrown, smiling. Yao wears the pain on his shoulders and maybe Tmac feels it too but just doesn't show it. But going by what I see Tmac comes off a bit smug and indifferent to losing. I know Tmac was hurt and he continued to play hurt but even before then the chemistry was not good. It looked like another night Tmac was not going to give it his all... Tmac was going to play SOFT.
It's from Sina, for Pete's sake! That's means you do need more than average IQ plus experience to figure out if it's real or not.
notice this article is written by some sina punk nicknamed "xiaohei", not by some known reporter who is covering Yao and Rockets in the US. That's all you need to know. That's the first rule of journalism.
I am a Rocket only fan so I can't speak for YOF's but my sense is that they want Yao's team to win and they want Yao to play well but they also want the other players to play well also. I think some may want Tmac gone if they get someone who would work better with the team. Personally I would consider taking Kidd and Nachbar and their 1st for Tmac and Rafer. Just off the top of my head.
