It was obvious from early on this season that they weren't going to be very good and, yet, sellout every stinkin game...even against Florida Atlantic.

Texas will be just fine. A little evolution never hurt anyone.

Texas will be fine...eventually.. This years recruiting class is in serious jeopardy unless Major stays for sure and we get an established guy like Smart or Shannon. The advantage that we have is that "We are Texas." We can afford to pay more for assistants than anyone else. And money def talks. I was thinking the smart thing to do was to steal off a bunch of A&Ms staff to weaken them up too. But we shall see what happens.

Oh, and the reason people even consider Jeffcoat is for recruiting. Hes said to have inroads to alot of the top talent in DFW area.

IMO Muschamp had to go. Its his hometown, and who wouldnt take a top 5 gig to coach in their hometown. Wish him the best of luck, but there def is a huge opportunity for a bunch of coaches around the country. Macks days are limited, hes def on the downside of his career and people are taking notice.

So is Texas. But being an SEC guy and having grown up in Gainesville, I can see why. Mack just isn't ready to retire.

LOL, why worry about TAMU? Just take care of y'alls business. TAMU staff isn't going to UT, different set of interests, different pipeline.

This post has been reported to the proper authorities. Expect a knock on your door soon.

Didn't especially care to watch UH this year. All I know is his son is a great talent who is very technically sound, and the guy as a former player is well respected.

Although it would make me very sad, Major should go to Florida. Its a chance to be the OC at a top tier school where the head coach totally believes in him.

    What if:

WM is a good coordinator, terrible head coach? *cough* Gary Kubiak *cough*

TX recruits a premier OC who is a few years away from a HC opportunity?

    More texting with J.S. . . . FWIW:
Major still leaning Texas. Heavily. He's going to require some major (pun) responsibility. I don't think being the OC (solo) is an ultimatum.

    More as it comes...

    Cool, thanks.

Any idea what the responsibility could be if it's not the solo OC role? I think he already has an "assistant head coach" title.

    Perhaps recruiting coodinator title?

He could get a co-coordinator title and be in charge of the run or pass game solely. I'm not a fan of this structure but its something to offer as well as a possible "under the table" agreement for the future.

ABC 13 just reported Major to Florida but didn't site any sources.

    Co-OC/QB Coach/Recruiting Coordinator/Other

Otherwise, he's the OC outright at UF.

(And if anybody blames him for taking the OC position at UF, they're drunk, delusional Texas "fans" living in a Fantasy Land.)

    Geez.

I hope this all gets sorted out soon.

I can't remember another example of virtually an entire staff turning over with the exception of the head coach.

Florida on the other hand would seem to be building a staff full of highly regarded assistants. They've hired Bo Davis (Bama) and Papuchis (Nebraska) already according to reports. If they add in Major (or the other rumor, Holgerson), they'll have quite the collection of young, talented coaches. It will be interesting to see how the collective ambition of those guys will play out.
