I wonder who they were...I would think with as much press as the Rockets get world wide that others would jump all over it....thats sad
Marv Albert? Are they going to get Barkley too. Or maybe we can buyout Costas' contract. There's no chance to land these super-high profile analysts for our regional telecasts.
This will be totally sweet. He may sound like a hillbilly but damnit...HE'S OUR HILLBILLY! And I say way to go Van! We must protect him. He's ours. As far as Van on's...I tend to agree. I think they have lived their life. I would like to see them go away and then only surface here and there. Eminem was great though
Will the Rockets games be broadcast on local (Houston) Channel 51 as before? I haven't seen any announcements on this yet, and the Rockets website doesn't list anything yet under Local TV (there is a National TV schedule listed).
Yes it will be on TV 51. They did the same thing last year, put out the national schedule and then a little later did the local schedule.
Better than Coop, but typical, going for the "friendly neighborhood" broadcast rather than a professional one. UGH ! DD
http://www.wnba.com/coachfile/van_chancellor/ ...Chancellor works during the offseason as a television color analyst for Southeastern Conference women’s basketball. That's from his WNBA Bio. This isn't new to him
thanks for the info, r-fan. I agree with Jeff completely that it should be titled [Rumor], but that doesn't mean I believe you any less, or that your info is any less relevant. I haven't heard Van speak, but as others have said, anyone's better than Coop. And it's good to have someone knowledgeable filling the spot.
When the game are on, there are s few steps I will follow: 1) Turn on the TV to the Rocket's game 2) Put the TV on mute 3) Turn on my stereo to 610am radio. (Gene Peterson r00lz)
Is there a chance that the Rockets are just doing this until Calvin gets his legal situation worked out? If he is found to be not guilty would the Rockets try to bring him back?
You know, I had the exact same reaction when they hired Rudy as head coach. The two championships sure shut my mouth right up.
Dude ... you think about crappy, poorly produced local radio spots way more than you need to. But while we're on the subject (hehe) ... at the beginning of that ad, Rich Lord says something like "The only person more excited about basketball in Houston is Van Chancellor, coach of the Houston Comets." My question is: "more excited about basketball in Houston" than whom? Or what? It's like it was poorly edited down from another, longer spot and a part of the intro got discarded. Just kinda bugs me.
Looks like I will be listening to Gene Peterson. Van Chancellor is very difficult to listen too, after 10 minutes I wont be able to take it. First Cynthia Cooper and now Van Chancellor, these are WNBA personalities NOT NBA personalities. The fan base for each are different.
