If the Knicks were serious about wanting mcgradys expiring theyd offer up a package including gallinari/lee/harrington
Lee has to approve any trade as it would cost him his Bird. He's not going to say 'Yes'. Harrington? Only if he gets passed thru to a 3rd team. Gallinari? I'm there.
I give props to you sir, for the main reason that WE KNOW with a reasonable degree of certainty that the Knicks want Tmac's ec. I think this trade can happen providing we don't get contracts lasting longer than Tmac's, which probably means a third team must get involved.
If a trade like this goes through, then DM is more optimistic about finding someone in the 2011 free agency class with Landry, Battier, Hayes, and Curry coming off the books... Yao does too but I would expect an extension for him... OR he would be stock piling expiring contracts for a sign and trade of a 2010 free agent... A big one...
He could be, but there is no reason to take on Eddy Curry, whom Knicks are desperate to dump, without extracting something of value from them.
I call it BS. Come on guys DM is not that dumb. If it's a three-way deal that gets us Randolph from the Warriors, I'm fine with taking Curry's contract.
I was just throwing out some kind of reasoning for getting Curry... Don't like it either but if someone can turn lemons, it's DM... This trade doesn't smell like a DM trade either... There isn't a diamond in the rough coming back if that's all involved... Lowry, Scola, etc...
It's amazing to me how the east coast media outlets can print something like this trash and the rest of the internet-reading world take it as a substantial trade rumor. Maybe NY hasn't heard, but Carroll Dawson isn't our GM anymore.
Yeah... like I said, the Rockets would want something of value back-- a Gallinari, a David Lee, maybe a Wilson Chanlder. Utah had to give Eric Maynor to save dump the Harpring contract, which is not nearly as large as Curry's and isn't standing in the way of their "Lebron cap room." Wouldn't be suprised if there is a talk around McGrady and Curry, but the Rockets will need real incentives to take on that salary in light of everything.
As OP related would-be deal the Rox actually get deeper into Lux with this. I am a big Rudy/CD guy, very big, but this ain't them doing Pippen-dumb-deals. In DM the GM I trust.
Originally, I thought Eddy Curry's contract ended in 2010. In which case, this would make some sense. But if he has a player option, which I gather from reading more closely here, then this makes no sense at all... Can someone clarify Curry's status in 2010?
I'd venture to guess that the Knicks would have to throw in a Hebrew National hot dog stand and a dozen pizzas from Ray's to make this work.
I'd love to see a deal with NY, since they are desperate to move Curry and Jeffries. They would need to throw in at least one unprotected first rounder to do that deal.
