I heard this a while ago as others...At first I was like, no way...but more and more, this makes sense...Being an independent, no conf. schedule, championship, direct path to BCS...winner winner...
It would be good timing for Stoops to move on now. He is losing Bradford, the QB situation looks sketchy. He hasn't won a big game in what feels like ages. Perfect moment to step away and get handed BCS games from the Notre Dame clause.
Stoops is not leaving OU. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...ectid=92&articleid=20091130_92_0_NORMAN161721
Well, the road to hell is paved with good intentions (sorry, couldn't resist). He did say that he will not confirm or deny anything; is not going to interview anywhere (which means nothing ... Stoops doesn't need to be interviewed.) Just trying to add fuel to the fire (hey, we do this with T-Mac in the GARM all the time, no?)
Exactly. Recently, Stoops has developed a reputation for crumbling in BCS bowl games (LSU, USC, Boise State, Florida), but Oklahoma's a perennial powerhouse on the national stage, and the team's resurgence over the past decade can be attributed to Bob Stoops. He's dipped in to the honey jar in Texas and snagged multiple blue-chip recruits (Adrian Peterson, Tommie Harris, Rhett Bomar, DeMarcus Granger), and he has multiple pipelines across the state. The Sooners have gone to 7 of the last 9 Big 12 Championship Games, and they've won 6 of those titles.
“They’ll have to carry me out of here (Ole Miss) in a pine box” -Tommy Tuberville 2 days before accepting the vacant Coaching job at Auburn If the OP news is right he still isn't lying, he probably won't have to interview for the ND job. they already know they want him and it will just be Hey wanna come here? Yeah pay me this. Okay deal...
The "alleged" offer from ND was 8 years at $24 million with unknown incentives. That's a pay-cut by the way.
No matter what he says you can't buy anything until after OU is done playing football for the year. At the earliest.
Okay, I've had to read this thread several times because I keep getting LonghornFan and LongTimeFan mixed up.
Some of the other names thrown out possibly for ND: http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/10425790/Weis-fired-as-Notre-Dame-coach-after-6-6-season [rquoter] Cincinnati's Brian Kelly has also been mentioned, along with Stanford's Jim Harbaugh and TCU's Gary Patterson.[/rquoter]
They are Cal's rival but I will give them their due, especially since we have the Axe , Stanford destroyed two ten teams this years and laid the worst loss ever in USC history to them, at USC. Maybe to ND fans it was shocking to lose to Stanford but to a lot of us it was shocking that ND even kept it close.
http://www.newsok.com/article/3421502 Listen to what Stoops actually said, around the 2:00 mark. IMO, the "Stoop denial" statements were taken out of context. It sounds like he was just giving OU lip service to me.
if i were a sooner fan, those stoops' quotes would'nt exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy... the guy flat out refused to say that he denied the ND job, insisting that he didn't like the way the reporter asked the question... he's gone.
