I hope this is true. More depth and versatility for the team. Probably be a couple of years before he becomes a Really Good Player (tm), but this certainly is the best time to drape him in Rocket Red.
I only have heard tidbits about V-span. What is he about? To me he sounds like the second coming of Sura with a bit more potential. Do yall expect him to be better than that dude that came over on indiana vjaskakavious w/e?
Well, KillBill is much better than the Babelfish translations of Kelvin Cato (Triumphant Spirit) and Rudy Tomjanovich (Soup Commander).
The Americanized name of Vasilis is Bill. But I doubt 'Kill Bill' as a nickname is PC enough for Bill Worrell to say.
Good news, I suppose. I guess taking a chance on him being NBA ready is just as risky as depending upon Sura being able to come back and contribute. Let's see what the kid can do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT7uOvKGvR8&search=Spanoulis Just saw this, did realize he is only 192cm, which is only 6'3", i thought he was 6'5. Nothing too impressive in the video, reminds me of those Euro guards Utah used to play.
It doesn't sound like anything close to a done deal. Where's a Greek interpretator when you need one. Sifting through the babelfish here's my interpetation... "The Houston Rockets aka:"capitilist pigs" have reached deep into thier pockets, offering 6 million dollars to our very own KillBill in an effort to lure him over. So now Vspan faces and enormous dilemna of whether to commit to his country where he has so much more to play for and many more titles to win representing Greece or to succumb to the evils of modern day sodom and gommorah, the NBA. Vspan on more than 1 occasion has stated "I want to face best!" He does have a "buy out", in his contract with Panathinaikos for 350,000.00 dollars of compensation to the Greek champions... but that's just crumbs and should not affect his decision! However, he will have to give up the greece "greens" in order to wear the vest of the Houston Rockets. The affair has reached pinnacle proportion with administrative executives who fear they will lose him. But they are hopeful that in the brain of Spanoulis exists also moral fiber. And he values the simple life, his environment, his love for his teammates, the national team and naturally his love for his family and the ability to walk the streets of Greece were he is adored and that this psychological pressure will make his decision very difficult. Still one must acknowledge that big occasions like this are not presented many times in the athletic way (once in a lifetime), and if indeed the Houston Rockets are persistent in the affair of his signing, is not by no means improbable that he succumb to the in American pressures.
here is another link http://www.sportime.gr/basket_inside.asp?article_id=24322 here is the translation
Now would you play in Greece and try to lead your team all the way to the championship (which is not a sure thing) or would you go to the NBA and be contributer for 2 million per year (which is a sure thing). You decide! I really hope he signs with us.
OMG w3 4r3 t3h 33v1L c4p17aL1sTs!!111!! It's weird that we're the "bad guys" in this situation. Will he sacrifice his patriotism and (*GASP*) moral fiber for the $$$ offered by America's decadent society? Heheh.
