But if that's the case, then why are other arenas so loud? The lower bowl seats at all NBA arenas are expensive.

I lived in Dallas for two years and went to every Rox/Mavs games at the AAC, and it was embarassing how much louder that arena is in the lower bowl than the TC. MUCH LOUDER

Because Dallas has had a winning team for a quite a while and it's the place to be in Dallas. It was like that at the Summit when the Rockets were consistently good too. Back in the late nineties at the Mavs games, you could hear a fly fart from across Reunion Arena during a Mavericks game.

Looks like this hairdoo that Vince McMahon forced me to wear back in the 90's is finally going to come in handy. Which way to the Red Rowdy tryouts? I'm a shoe in with this bad boy.

Whats with all of the negativity towards the rowdy's, and since when do you speak for "most people." Its fine to have your opinion, I have mine, but lets not make assumptions that the majority of fans in the arena side with either of us.

Seriously what is with all of the negativity? You sound like one of those people who complain that people stand up and cheer during the game.

But if you're going to get down on the need for the Rowdies well then why have the Power Dancers, Clutch the Bear, or even flashy uniforms? I mean it is basketball so why do we need to other things to get us into the game?

This is entertainment and the Rowdies are entertaining!

If the Rowdies are overrated why did the Rockets craft a marketing campaign around them, "Get Red and Rowdie!"? The Rockets know that the Rowdies create a more exciting experience for TC than a bunch of people politely applauding. Also JVG and T-Mac understood that an excited crowd inspires the team so why not prime the pump by having a guarenteed group of crazy fans.

And before you dismiss them as just being interested in free tickets from my experience embedding with the Rowdies its more than that. These are fans who while the love seeing the game for free know what their role is and take it seriously. Its not just getting up there and acting like a drunken @ss but being dedicated to coming to home games and working to keep people fired up. If you think that is easy to do over a full season and playoffs talk to Krosfyah, Andymoon, Junkyard Dog and some of the other Clutchfans who are Rowdies. They will tell you its not for the faint of heart.

Just a reminder for those who haven't experienced them first hand.

its not that they had to pay for fans to come. its they had to pay for fans with any sort of passion to come. the typical yuppie crowd that buys tickets is to nervous about being seen by their friends to scream and holler. the rowdies were true fans that had a passion for the rockets and love to show it each game by cheering loudly.

i remember one game i attended last year against san antonio where the rowdies were the only rockets fans cheering. there was a whole section of spurs fans next to mine that were louder then the whole stadium (sans the rowdies of course).

    thats pretty bad IMO.

I went to one of the Memphis games last season and sat in the upper deck, opposite side of the arena from the red rowdies.

I heard "Rocket Reject" and "You got traded" loud and clear when the rowdies were getting onto Stromile.

Whoever said that you can never hear them should go get their hearing checked.

Some of you really, seriously need to read the thread. I mean, it was confirmed on PAGE ONE that the Rowdies would be returning and here we are on page 3 and people are still posting, "Damn, that sucks!"

Not true. The Rowdies had a get-together today for a TMac commercial shoot. Tryouts will likely be Saturday, September 22, but nothing is official yet. As for the number of seats, I am not sure. I don't know how the judges will do this, since so many of last year's rowdies were very loyal and passionate for their team. You can expect at least 400 people at the tryout, compared to last year's 60.

This is a good website to check out:

Just giving you an honest opinion.

And you sound like one of those people who are up and down every time someone takes a shot not rleaizing that he just blocked 3 or 4 people's view because he has no manners or self control.

I don't need any of that to watch a game. You don't have it when you are watching TV why do you need it at the game unless you have a childs attention span. During a timeout, I'm trying to figure out what moves the coach is going to make not what trick Clutch the Bear is going to do.

I don't pay to see those guys. Why would anyone?

It's called artificial hype.... like I already said.

It's silly.... If it was a group of season ticket holders like the dog pound in Cleveland, that's one thing. This is artificial....

Those videos look like a bunch of silly kids to me.

Stuck up snobs = grown men and women with children of varying ages that don't need to leave the house in front of their kids looking like they are going out dressed as a Circus Clown. The stuck up snobs (as you call them) boo people too, they just don't act like a bunch of attention seeking jackasses in the process.

Fans like you make the TC look like a "hey look at me show" instead of a basketball game. The game should entertain itself you, not what some overgrown kid in a red wig and face paint is shouting at the top of his lungs.
