I heard the same thing as well. If it isn't true, I vote for Mattress Mac to pick it up and buy the tickets!
yeah i thought adelman said publicly at one of the press conferences he wouldnt mind paying for the tix to bring them back. i am sure tmac would pony up too. also when robgue spoke briefly to nelson luis (i think media relations director) he said that adelman was bringing them back. i think at this point les understands it would be a bad business move not to bring them back and a really bad PR move. now if they are sitting in a different section that could be what the tix rep meant to say, maybe they arent in 114(?) anymore maybe on the other side or something?
This is sad, but I understand their reasoning. The team will be very good, and that should make the Tool Shed rock this year. DD
Make it a discounted section of like 100 seats, ie. the Spurs "baseline bums" and then you help the "real fan" who want's tickets low but can only afford upper level tickets sit down with the "stipulation" that they are to be rowdy. Also there could be like 20 tickets given away every night to crazy fans outside the stadium two hours before. DONT DO SEAT UPGRADES THAT IS LESS PEOPLE IN THE ARENA.
Is it really about buying them tickets, or maybe giving them tickets they couldn't otherwise afford to get them closer, and concentrating them in one spot? Let's face it the lower levels are out of most average people's price range. You could spread some crazy fans all over the upper levels and not see any affect. You put them down close and all together and they become a factor in the game. It is the same reason High School and college Football teams bring a band and cheerleaders to the game and have a student section. You concentrate people who can be an influence on atmosphere to give you whatever edge you can get. Maybe it would be better if a group of fans had done it themselves and created the red rwodies, but could they have afforded to do it?
I agree with other posters here that Adelman's new system should jolt the Houston fanbase once again. Plus we're coming off of a 52 win season rather than 38 the year before. Plus Stevie is back and will bring back even more fans that we had prior to T-Mac. TC will be rocking and rolling come gametime. Maybe not like Oakland or Toronto fans, but we should definately be into the mix this season.
If there was a misunderstanding, it wasn't my hearing what the Rep said. It's very conceivable that he just isn't aware of their return and everything he told me was bunk. To update, I just got a hold of Brian - will call me back in 20 minutes after he checks with the guy that is in charge of them. Said that he believes they will be back, that Adelman is picking up part of the tab and that Budweiser is still the target for buying the others. I'll try and get word if anything has changed with regards to the number of tix or the location. Evan
Confirmed, they will return. No word yet on location but is expected to be same or comparable. Will be 50 seats. My apologies for causing an unnecessary uproar. I blame my ticket rep. Evan
The Rowdy thing was waaaaaaaay overated. If you don't sit within a few sections of them you hardly notice them. Maybe a slight drunken murmur in the distance. It may seem different to fans watching on TV but that is only because the camera men put them on TV a lot to get them to act crazy. They want you to buy in to artificial hype. It's much like hype you see when a TV news crew picks the biggest blabbering idiot at the scene of a tornado to describe how most of his 1972 model trailer blew away but the wheels and frame were still there (as a result of being staked and tied down to the ground) and that's a sign from God to rebuild his trailer. You will see a clean cut articulate looking guy with a suit and tie standing nearby but no they have to pick the guy with a wife beater shirt and a Dog the Bounty Hunter haircut.
Totally Disagree I have season tickets directly on the other side of the stadium from the rowdys on the second level in the first row. I could hear them loud and proud every game. The best is when they start a loud funny chant and everyone picks up on it. Rowdys changed the atmosphere of the game thats for sure, no matter where you were sitting.
I'm all for the return of the rowdies. Rockets home crowds have been lame for years, and it was nice to have someone spice it up and show all these "see and be seen" types that it's actually okay to stand up and cheer for your team when it isn't the playoffs Go Rowdies
Agreed...that section should man up and buy there own season tix...maybe won't be as big, but a good following would do...
You can disagree all you want, most people didn't seem to care one way or another about them. Like has been said before, we should have a good team and we shouldn't need to give away tickets. The games were fun before the Rowdies came and will be fun after they leave. I must have missed the funny chants... All I heard was some stuff you'd hear at a high school game. Not all of us stop to look at the monkey's in the zoo, just for a cheap chuckle....
Good points. The cost of the tickets has changed the dynamics of who sits in the lower bowl. It would be nice if the Rockets had a lottery based system for an entire section of seats in the lower bowl at an affordable price. When I see the crazies at other arenas, I see a bunch of friends who all bought tickets to get together to support their team. I can get with that. That's a natural thing. Having to go down to TC and act like a fool to get a free season ticket is a little demeaning. You've been pimped out.
