Rumor: Rondo traded to Memphis

Good steal by Boston, IMO.

People undervalue Gay too much.

He can be off the bench, and give the Celtics 20 points any game.

Or, Boston now can trade Allen for youth/future.

 

That's what I was expecting when I looked at the headline of the thread.
The Celtics failed to get Stuckey,Rip and Prince,but Gay and Conley is a pretty good deal for them if this is true.

Sounds like Rondo is causing a lot of problems for them.Memphis could take Harden now. O.J. is really nice,but he is a bit undersized as a 2 guard.

Harden can come off the bench or get some minutes at the 3 as well. O.J. can also backup Rondo at the 1. Thabeet is also a possibility here. I feel Memphis may end up regretting their decision,if this is all true.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they offer Allen's expiring contract plus a pick or two. for let's say Jason Richardson and Barbosa,with the latter as a backup at the 2 and the 1. Whether the Suns bite or not is another matter. Gay can continue in a 6th man role.

Minny could offer the 5th and 6th pick to Memphis for the 2nd pick, which could be likely. Memphis is reportedly looking to move out of that 2 spot.

 

Anybody else liking all the activity the past few seasons? Yeah Now if only we'd get in the mix....

 

If this happens, I have to applaud Danny Ainge for making the transition/rebuilding process almost seamless. He got what he wanted out of the Big Three with the championship and now he has to retool the team for the future.

Giving up Rondo might be a loss, but it's not a big loss. Rondo's a good player, but something about his body language just screams "meltdown" later on in his career. Getting Gay AND Conley can't be bad at all. Slowly add pieces to replace the old ones.

Given that nobody wants to go to Memphis out of his own free will, I guess the only way they get talent is to trade for somebody who has to go there because he is already under contract.

I don't believe this rumor. The Grizz are a truly sorry franchise, but this is beyond even them (I think).
