Yes pairing an all-star PG with T-mac would work. It would make things easier on him. Problem is there is no way we can get an all-star PG at this time.
We can get someone like bibby or billup or calderon if they were available. But obviously not the paul, williams or even nash of the nbas.
Denver will not trade Billups for Artest, hell they wouldn't even trade Kleiza for Artest last year. Why would the Hawks trade Bibby for Artest when PG has been there problem the last few years? They always had wing players. None of those trades make sense. Toronto is the only team I could see interested in Artest because they need wing players.
I wish we picked up Mo Williams during the summer. He would be an absolute perfect fit on this team. Decent ballhandler who splits playmaking duties with LBJ, insane spot up shooter...he's a perfect fit for the role that Rafer is playing right now. Rafer- decent ballhandler who splits playmaking duties with T-mac....mediocore (or "streak") spot up shooter...
Yes, and he's not the only one either. Too many mind games going on with this team this year. I for one can't wait for the trade deadline to pass.
After trading TJ Ford away Calderon is pretty much the only true PG on their team. So probably not.. Two ways we're gonna get a PG: 1. Trading for a PG who has shown he can produce when given starter minutes but has been relegated to backup PG due to various situations (ie. Ramon Sessions, Kirk Hinrich) 2. Convincing another team that a downgrade at PG (Alston for whoever we're trading for) is worth the upgrade at wing (Ron or T-mac for whoever we get back)
I think Wafer has played well, but if they trade Ron, you're basically depending on a rookie in the playoffs. Its a dumb move if that's what will occur. Artest is the toughest guy on the team, bar none and in a gritty, frind it out playoffs, they're going to need hi resolve. As far as resigning him, they have a great shot at it. I think 4 yrs 44m will do it for him I'm sure. That still keeps you in the 2010 sweeps because the biggest contract coming off is tracy, then rafer and scola. They trade ron and don't get a big impact, tough player back, they're further from the ring than they already are.
You're right I didn't even think about that. I was just thinking in terms of who needed a wing player. So back to what I said earlier we can't get an all-star pg for Ron Artest. If we did I would be shocked.
hell no. dude has shot worse than a frustrated/sulking tracy on ONE leg. baron davis is a system player.
We don't really know what is going on in the locker room either so maybe Ron isn't meshing well with everyone off the court. If you look around our bench all the guys seem like nice and decent guys and mabye Ron just doesn't fit in and Morey is afraid he might jack with team chemistry. I actually like Ron on this team but then again I also loved the Barkley trade back in the day and it didn't get us to the Championship either. I agree with what others have said though with regards to trading Artest for a starting point guard (Nash, Hinrich, Bibby) and a back up Center (Pachulia, Lopez, Miller) in the long run it would really help this team out and if we keep playing like we have been then there is no reason we couldn't still get a Championship with some key pieces added thanks to Ron's contract. Just a thought.
not really. baron davis prefers a fast-paced system where he can get easier buckets. he shared the ball well with ellis, jackson, and others the last few yrs in golden state. he's not a good half-court player. and we are a half court team.
Also if we trade away Artest we are trading away toughness, something this team has lacked the past few years. I don't see how the Rockets could be down on Artest. If they are down on Ron then they are certainly down on T-mac as well, but at this point Ron has more value. Trading him would be mind boggling at this point. There were plenty of games this year where Ron played great in the 4th qt. I just don't see how trading him will make us better. This season had so much potential and now every week a trade rumor pops up and rumors about dysfunction pops up. I wasn't expecting the season to go like this at all.
Yep, and they called me crazy this summer. While good player were being giving away who wouldve fit better, the rox waited and waited.
Well that is the problem and to me that is why we need Ron. Too many nice guys on this team. We need someone with toughness. Ron seems like a great guy off the court so I don't think team chemistry off the court is a problem.
