Unless it involved Ron for Curry, Curry for Rip, Rip comes here. I'm not throwing out an exact scenario, mind you. Such a trade would involve other players, draft picks. But Detroit would get their big guy.
If Wafer still plays the way he is playing by the end of the season just don't sign Artest at all , especially if the Rox don't win it all. Artest needs to come back so we can find out if he can fit in before the trade deadline, if he doesn't just trade him.
Good point about a 3 way. But as much as I love Rip, and I loooove Rip, would you really want him here over a starting PG? I wouldnt. Keep in mind, we'll have an apparent healthy TMAC, Battier, Wafer, and Barry playing similar positions. It could've happened in the offseason with TMAC being involved, but that chance has come and gone now.
It has been reported that Felton wants out of Charlotte and honestly Raymond is a beast he just doesnt get the shine/credit he deserves and Gerald Wallace might be good on this team being as he's played for Adelman before but i dont think the #'s add up
...a beast who can't shoot that well. yes he would be an upgrade over rafer but if we traded for him it would have to be more than him since the salaries aren't close.
Felton's FG % are not much better, but he can pass and play D. He'd be a definite upgrade over Rafer though. The problem is, I believe he's a free agent at the end of the year, and Bobcats would something more than an expiring contract for him, so Artest would not entice them. They'll prolly want something like Aaron Brooks or Landry, long term, young, good locks. Wallace is just a pipe dream for us IMO.
Man, I would like Artest to stay with this team. Right now, this team is a regular season team. We need the tenacity and roughness that Artest brings to this team when we go into the playoffs and play the likes of the Jazz, Fakers, and Spurs. If we do trade him, I hope to get someone like him in return....and someone to replace Reefer.
No. I'm just following the scenario that might net us Rip Hamilton. Given my CHOICE, despite Rafer's recent (but probably brief) resurgence, I'd say our most glaring need is a starting-caliber, relatively-young point guard. But which ones are on the market? Hinrich is an easy guess and after that, who knows. Whatever three-team scenario I might imagine would involve the team that wants Ron long-term or his expiring contract and a team that would net us the PG in question AND a halfway decent prospect for the "2" spot (Hinrich/Sefalosha?---again, hypothetical).
Artest and Head for Gerald Wallace would be nice... Although it doesnt do much for the 2010 plan we would have him for 4 more years. PLUS, Luther head is traded which is a major bonus in my book
A player like Barbosa maybe? Phoenix might miss Bell, and Artest would give them toughness. He cant pass, but we would not need him to (with TMAC). He'd need to hit open shots, which he can, and he's an incredible fast break waiting to happen. But then again, we'd be left with 3 PGs then.....sigh....
Baron Davis would be a point guard I would want for the Rockets, assuming the clippers would just give up and trade him to rebuild. We could trade them two expiring contracts in Luther Head and Artest for Davis. Works salary-wise and Im sure the Rockets would definitely want to do that.
I love Miller, just not on this team. His inability to hit the 3 ball in the playoffs will be our doom. And Billups in unfortunately not on the market anymore. Stud, Billups, but Denver made out good with him.
