    Now that's interesting.

Could we S+T Artest for Ariza, and S+T Battier for Gortat? I'd go for that.

I would ask for Przybilla as well.

Why would Orlando do that with all the money they are already spending on the perimeter?

I like Battier more than Artest but Ariza's skill set is too identical to Battier (ariza better at attacking the rim, battier a better shooter...ariza a more athletic defender, battier the smarter defender)

if morey thinks that he can realistically sign ariza that means a deal for battier must be already in place i doubt morey goes and gets ariza with the chance of artest and battier being back

So you're not expecting the Rockets to be contenders for the next several years?

I dunno about giving one of your main rivals an Artest type player. Let him go to the Cavs in the East.

Forget Przybilla. Trade Battier for pieces to combine with Landry to get Rubio. Find talent that Minny wants and send it to them for the rights to Rubio.

If Ariza signs and Battier or Artest become expendable, I'd look to Detroit. The Pistons will have about $4 million left after they sign Gordon and Villanueva. Maybe Shane wouldn't mind being traded home, we take back Kwame (backup center, expiring contract, $4 mil) and a future draft pick?

man this would be great. get ariza and let artest walk. next year artest may be slightly better then ariza but from then on artest will get worse and worse.

    i hope this happens.

I can see how a big man like Gortat is rarer in the NBA, but you have to agree with me that Ariza is definitely marginally better than Gortat. Who knows how Gortat will pan out in the next few years after signing a huge deal... (heck I didn't even know who he was until the Magic were in the playoffs). Ariza we've already seen what he can do. He's young, athletic, humble, and works hard. The dude can still develop.. doesn't mean he's gonna be a spot up shooter/perimeter defender forever.

Artest is not coming back!! To be honest I don't think the Rockets want him back!! Artest is pushing 30 and if we won't be contending next season we might as well go with Ariza, who is only 24.

The report says multiyear MLE but it doesn't say Full MLE so , the Rockets might still have money left to sign Ariza and a center free agent. If Gortat goes to Dallas, we should set our sights on Zaza Paculia, who is also 25. No need to panic!

Right now their wings are Carter and Lewis. They could use a Battier coming off the bench. I think he'd be a great fit with that team since they like to put 4 three-point shooters on the floor, and they'd make more use of him than Gortat.

    Ariza????

This guy has NO OFFENSE what so ever. The only thing he brings to the table is DEFENSE.

I'm guessing we're getting rid of Shane.

I'd do that in a second. We'd get young very quickly with a player with possible all-star potential if developed properly. I doubt the Hawks would trade him away. I see them dangling Josh Smith and Bibby before anyone.

I was just ranting a little. Signing Ariza would be a good move but I see him ending up back in LA. In general, I'd like to see us move guys like Battier, Barry, McGrady and even Scola for younger players with upside like Ariza. If Yao comes back healthy by the end of the season and we can deal him for some younger pieces, I'd do that, too.
