so what plan of action do you think is best for the rockets to take right now? go after zaza? i'm not sure about anything so far...but i do know that the moves morey has made in the past that people were completely unsure of turned out to be pretty good ones.

Not really sure how I feel about this yet. Guess it's a good thing, we need help. But we have NO Centers.

    Wish we could get Amare.

I'm not a huge fan of Ariza. He played off of Kobe.

I agree with that. If Ariza is inbound, Battier may already be involved in a trade outbound...time will tell.

If we sign Ariza, then it means Battier is probably on his way out. Battier has been getting a lot of PR this season, so his value is as high as it ever will be, especially since he is on the wrong side of 30.

That's the only thing that would make sense to me about Battier. He may be the piece that can help get a center in some sort of multiplayer trade. Im just assuming.

yeah, i'm working under the impression that a deal is on the table to bring in a big and it involves battier.

they wanted to feel out Gortat first and once that fell through they looked to replace battier

My mistake. I liked the suggestion above of doing a sign and trade of Artest for Ariza. I think we could get all parties on board for that.

Ariza did look great in the playoffs. Guess we'll have the twin stumps instead of the twin towers-- but maybe Chuck and Joey can get it done till Yao and T-Mac return for one final run.

We will probably get Rasho Nesterovic (steven A. smith voice) to play Center

Say no to Ariza. Trevor is a solid role player that needs to have very good players around him. Every championship team needs him, no rebuilding teams need him.

He was very good with the Lakers because no opposing teams could focus much defense on him since there were more potent weapons on the floor for the Lakers.

Oberto could be our next target, but we do not the money for any big man. Trade for a big man or play real small ball. Confused.

I also agree that to me Battier is gone...I would start by call Portland, ask for Rudy F./Outlaw and start with Battier to see what we can get done...Artest is gone he aint coming back but a sign and trade is looking more like a possiblity.

I would love that... if only to piss opposing fans off.

I don't think they would trade Battier even if Ariza is on board. Battier may have lost a step but still plays good D, hits jays, and brings all the intangibles.

If anyone is on the trading list I would think Landry, McGrady, and possible AB.

I'd be worried if we actually threw MLE coin at Gortat. Seems like we could pick up someone like a PJ Brown that should fit that particular need at a fraction of the cost.

    Ariza would be nice!

I thought they said they wouldn't sign Artest period? I'm confused right now. I'll be glad when everything is final.

If we are offering Ariza the full MLE, which I think we should, one of two things happens. Either we get him at that price or we drive his price even higher for LA to have to retain him. That makes it an even more difficult decision on LA to retain Odom.

Personally, I think Ariza represents an upgrade for us at the swing position and makes either Battier or Artest expendable as a trade asset for other talent.
