Thanks for the help Deckard. I can't believe how much his "knee" problem"s" have been blown out of proportion. He had one knee surgery. Paranoia is running rampant at Clutchfans, I guess I can't blame anyone.
i don't want mike james' me first attitude on this team. Its just bad news for this team. end of story. There are plenty of other options out there. I don't know about his attitude (got released by the bobcats), but i'd rather sign Kareem Rush than james... and he won't accept the MLE. a selfish player like him would be crazy to accept that paltry MLE.
I believe that someone out of the top 6 or so will drop to the 8th slot. It always happens, Atlanta would've drafted Shelden anyways at the 5, they have no choice, we don't need to trade Head to them for Roy, they're not going to pick him. I just think that the difference betw. gay/roy will not be as big as Luther head. IMO there's a 85% chance Gay is at #8
Ok, let me see if I understand this... If Charlotte throws a curve and drafts Roy, then Rudy Gay should be there at #5... So, if we give them head, then we would get gay? Umm... Why am I suddenly not wanting to do this deal? Yeah I know.. couldn't help it.
What's confusing is why don't the Hawks just pick Sheldon at #5 outright? It might mean a few millions in contract difference, but they're under the cap anyways. My own projections: Toronto: Bargnani Chicago: Aldridge Charlotte: Gay Portland: Morrison Atlanta: Williams After that, only Minnesota and Boston stands in our way. Would Minnesota really pick Roy when they can draft Tyrus Thomas, a player that has enough athleticism to play the 3 and could take KG's spot if 1. Garnett gets dealt and/or 2. Thomas really blossoms into another Amare. Boston could take another swingman. But they got so many holes to fill, I highly doubt they would take another shooter. It's got to be Marcus Williams here. So that leaves us with Roy. We have our choice of Roy, Brewer, Carney, or Redick. We don't have to give up Luther Head and STILL get one of the players we wanted. I highly doubt any team before us would draft Roy so that they can sabotage any deal with Atlanta or what not. That's too much of a risk to be stuck w/ a player that you don't know anything about and a player you don't need. The only place I would trade up for is #4 because it gives us one more possibility. At least one of these players: Bargnani Gay Aldridge Morrison Will fall to us. That's something more worthy of trading our pick away with Luther Head
You don't know that. Frankly I'd be mighty afraid of Minny drafting Roy. They just lost Mccants to microfracture surgery. So they could really use a SG. All this Foye talk out of them could just be a smokescreen. And as for Boston, they do appear to have needs at PG, but Ainge seems like the type that might say "screw it" and just take the best player avaliable. And like someone mentioned above, some other team might trade up in front of us and nab Roy away. There's no guarantees with the draft, but this much is certain, it's a lot easier to get the player you want at 5 than at 8.
*sigh* So maybe he's not DWade Redux, but he's got quite a load of nasty in his game still. No player led his team with more substance in March. And this guy will fit in like butter with 111. Don't just read the scounting reports, I encourage anyone with doubts to actually watch this guy play. I'm having difficult feelings about giving up Luther & #8 to make this happen though. Sure, if it was JHo, sign the trade papers and proceed to point, mock, and jeer the Atlanta GM in his face. But recent posts have given reason for pause on the current proposal. Could Roy, in fact, reasonably fall to #8 without any need for a trade up? In order for the trade scenario to work, he would need to fall past #4 anyway. And Atlanta does not want him at #5. The bottom line question is whether Boston and/or Minny will take him if he is there. Marcus Williams and Foye are both high for those teams. If LaMarcus or Tyrus are still there, will they be chosen over BRoy? I can't imagine anything's a done deal until draft night. And everything will be dependent upon how the draft unfolds especially in the top 4.
Draft Express must be pretty certain about this trade going down because they have already changed their mock to show Atlanta taking Roy and Houston taking Sheldon. Hmmm. Here is the link: http://www.draftexpress.com/mock.php?y=2006 I would have to do this trade.
Maybe not. But if it's choice between James and Rush, and they'll both take the same money, of course you go with James. People are making much too big a deal of his "selfish" attitude.
but see, we all know Atlanta wants Shelden, so if we don't do the trade they will take him, so Roy would fall to us anyway
I have to agree with you. I don't see any great benefit in trading Luther for a player that might fall to us anyhow, especially considering that Brewer or Carney are probably just as good (and not injured!) and will certainly be there for us.
Portland might trade up with Toronto to ensure that they get Morrison and then take Bargnani for the Raptors.
If Toronto takes Morrison and the Blazers take Bargnani that means they have a trade worked out. This would be totally crazy for the Blazers to do. Draftexpress is reaching on this one.
