Supposedely Roy and LA have a higher upside than JJ. If I'm gonna roll the dice with someone who may have an injury problem, I would rather do it for someone with more potential and skill sets.

I don't know about Gansey, his upside is Richie Frahm. There are always going to be Eddie House's, Allan Ray's and Salim Stoudamire's on the market. We need to get a physical or athletic guard/forward with size. PJ Tucker ala Devean George II, James White, Hassan Adams, Renaldo Balkman... I'd be happy with any of those. Ager could slip as well.

The Rockets are getting ripped off. Picks 4 through 7 are already in place. Portland wants Morrison, Atlanta wants Sheldon Williams, Minnesota wants Foye, and Boston wants Marcus Williams. There’s no need to trade up. If Roy slips past the Bobcats at #3, he’ll be available at #8. None of these teams ahead of the Rockets have any interest in Roy. They’re just trying to manipulate the situation in their favor and the Rockets are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

All this trading up to get Roy business is probably the work of Arn Tellum trying to get some extra $$$ for his client by getting picked higher.

I'd love to have PJ Tucker on this team. He's a great rebounder and tough player who's not afraid to go inside.

You've got to pull the trigger on this if it is there...let's hope Roy falls to 5 and Shelden falls to 8.

Luther Head is a 6th man at best on a championship team...and that's what we're striving here for. Brandon Roy is potentially a starter that can be the 3rd scoring option. I was starting to get a little worried with all the Tyrus Thomas talk. The kid is talented, but doesn't really address our needs all that well. We've got to take advantage of this window of opportunity. I have a feeling JVG is really pushing for Roy....he's NBA ready, can shoot, and seems to have good basketball IQ. I don't think his stock would be this high if his knees were that big of a problem, either.

Then you re-sign Wesley, who I think would be great off the bench for 15 or 20 minutes. Drop Bowen and bring Bogans back too. Then we'd almost have to go for a PG too, since we'd be losing Head. Mike James is probably the best option.

    Alston / James / #32 pick
    Roy / Wesley
    Mcgrady / Bogans
    Swift / Howard / Hayes
    Yao / Deke / (Swift)

That's why we should wait until the picks are made to make the deal. But are we really sure of Minnesota and Boston's picks? I mean, every draft has its surprises. If there is even a remote chance they take Roy, we make this deal. I'll live with losing Luther if it nets us a potential key starter.

For those that have Mike James as a back-up to Alston in their projected line-ups... There is no way Mike's ego will let that happen.

We could probably get Royal Ivey as a throw in this deal. He could fill Luther Head's spot on the bench.

Right on, and furthermore, who's to say their aren't still bits and pieces of this trade still being worked out? Maybe ATL still throws us a salary-dump player or a 2nd round pick next year, who knows?

Exactly, and that's what worries me. I don't like Mike James starting and I think Alston, with all the pieces around him, can distribute the ball properly and play well. He did for the few games in which we actually had everyone healthy.

Does anyone know what kind of knee surgery Roy had? It seems to after reading that Seattle Times article that he played very well THREE weeks after surgery. Now I know knee surgeries aren't that great but this does not sound like it was a very serious injury at all. I have seen and heard of many people with torn cartilage and return to full form. This happened at the beginning of his Junior year. I mean I guess there is a little concern but geez everyone acts like it was an ACL injury or something. Obviously his knee is of no concern to NBA scouts and GMs so quit thinking the worst.

"Played 26 games, starting the first three before a meniscus tear in his right knee shelved him for nearly a month...Returned earlier than expected and and scored 10 points, on 5-for-5 shooting, to lift the Huskies to a 68-64 win over No. 12 North Carolina State (Dec. 19) ... Missed two more games before returning to the lineup for good ..."

We'll see. I think James would still get starter minutes by playing some SG, and he'd definitely be in to close games. I'm sure there'd be a lot of controversy over it around here, but I think Van Gundy likes having Alston quarterback the offense and push the ball, mostly because he doesn't turn the ball over.

If the Celts trade Wally for Miller, then they aren't in a need for a stud point guard. They could look to add in other areas.

Since you can assume that Minnesota and Boston know who they want (PG's), isn't it safe to assume that if Roy does fall to #6, another team could trade up and get him? Of picks 9 - 16, the only ones who really need a point are Philly.

Exactly. And the Rockets don't need to draft Brandon Roy to be the "3rd scorer" if they are going to make a play for Mike James. James is a proven 20ppg player on 47% shooting. If that doesn't qualify as "3rd option" then maybe the rest of you folks know somthing I don't. The guy was also 4th in the NBA in 3 point field goal percentage last season. I'd say that would be a steal for the MLE.

No kidding. His play since then has been unreal. If there is anything else physically "wrong" with Roy, I wish someone would point it out.
