I am not sure about a Dwayne Wade-type because he simply doesn't have that kind of elevation, but I like Foye too. He can handle the ball, penetrate and distribute, hit his jumpers, and defend.

The problem with Foye, though, is his similarity to Head: while more athletically gifted and physical, Foye is an undersized combo guard who does not have the handle of a point guard or experience at the one, nor the size and length for the two. If the plan was to trade Head, then I think it is smart--assuming that we can also get a long enough wing to play along with Foye.

It's not that we are, to use your charming expression, "Brewer lovers" (though I do love brew), but that he would fill more needs than any other player without taking away what we already have. Because of that, Brewer gives us the best chance of being good immediately. To move for Roy or pick Foye would take several others moves of which we are all just in the dark right now.

The point to target #5 or #4 is because that's where Morrison is going.

Roy is going #3 at lowest #4.

Houston and Charlotte and Portland and Atlanta are not all making their draft decisions based on the wishes of Tellem, and they all still want a particular player, first and foremost.

    Charlotte - Roy
    Portland - Morrison
    Atlanta - Shelden

    Do the math.

Look it's not hard to understand.

    Charlotte has

    1. Roy
    2. Morrison
    3. Gay

    Portland has

    1. Morrison
    2. Roy
    3. Gay

    Atlanta has

    1. Shelden
    2. Aldridge
    3. M. Williams

It doesn't matter what the hell Minny and Boston do.......

Gay falling to 8 or Roy or Morrison is not happening.

Which means if Houston really wants someone and really wants to move up............

Then it's for Morrison not Roy.

    Because NEWS FLASH

If Charlotte takes Morrison, Portland will take Roy.

And then Gay will be there at #5..............

So the Rockets are trading Luther and the #8 for Gay, and they still have Redick/Carney/Brewer plus Head as the other option? Gay is a SF as is T-Mac as well now.

I think it's pretty clear that they wouldn't be targeting those picks and this particular trade with Head (a SG BTW) unless Morrison is the #1 on the board.

Because otherwise from a logisitical standpoint, Morey and the rest of the brain trust are idiots, that is unless they want to deal Luther and the #8 for Gay, which really doesn't make as much sense as Roy or Morrison, so clearly that isn't really the scenario they are planning for.

You don't target the #4 or #5 for a player that is going #3 or #4.

I know the board has a theory that Tellem orchestrated this thing with his two players, but why the hell would not just one but two teams that want Roy pass on him just because Tellem is talking to Houston and Atlanta?

Roy would tell Portland they couldn't draft him? Roy is already close to McMillan before he even talked to Tellem or the Rockets.

    Dude, please.

Look, I've been with you every step of the way with Redick. I'm still all for getting Redick out of this draft if we cannot get Roy or Morrison. But that being said, can't you see that Roy is the better fit over Morrison for our team with McGrady playing the 3???

Sure we take Morrison if Roy is gone before #5 and he is still there. But he ain't going to be there. Honestly, do you really think Portland takes anybody else if Morrison is indeed on the board when they pick? That's a no brainer for them. It was probably one of the dealbreakers for them in the trade with Juwan and Darius. That's why I think the perfect trade is the 3 way with Minny, sending Minny #8 and Head, Minny sends #6 to Portland, Portland sends us #4 and Portland in turn for us letting Morrison slide to them at #6 gives us one or both of their 30 and 31 picks for the priveledge of getting Morrison and dumping Miles for Howard.

Dude, if nothing else works out for Roy, Morrison, Bargnani, or Gay, then I'm all for still getting Redick out of this draft. You've got to be able to see Roy as a better fit for us with his ability to create and make good decisions plus his athleticism and good shooting and the ability to get his own shot. No, he's not the shooter that Redick, but he is a complete player on both ends of the court that will be able to get 20 for us when we need it and he will be highly efficient. And he will also bring perimeter defense.

My dream of dreams is Rudy Gay will be our starting PF in a couple of years. Before then, he can rotate between the 2/3/4 positions.

See I'm not buying this whole thing like everyone else is.

Until I get some confirmation that Tellem is running the draft, I am not buying that Roy slips past #4.

    He's going #3 or #4.

Unless Tellem is running the draft, which in that case I could believe it.

But I have a hard time believeing he's controlling everyone's pick basically if this thread is true by deciding every pick #3 to #5 in essence.

And since Morrison is not his client, that leaves 2 out of 3, which leaves a whole in this theory, so I'm not buying it unless I see some actual info to show Tellem is running the show.

I don't doubt that the front office is after Roy. But I do doubt that Roy will be available at the #5 slot. More likely it looks like we will end up trading down for a Brewer or Reddick or Carney instead. It's just as well since we've never been very smart draftpickers from the get-go anyways. I'm still bitter over drafting Rodney Frickin McCray over Clyde

But if Roy is there at 5, we take him, you would agree to that wouldn't you?

Or if Morrison is there at 5 and Roy is gone, wouldn't you agree we do the trade and draft Morrison?

Gay, that's another story. I'd say let him drop and force Minny to make the decision to draft that kid over Thomas or Aldridge. If Aldridge is sitting there at 6 with Gay, I think Minny takes Aldridge or Foye before they take Gay. Then you force Boston to trade down if Gay is the one left or they just have to take the point guard they want at 7. And if none of the big 6 are there at 8, and we can't make a deal to move up and grab one of Roy, Morrison, or Bargnani, then you just go with #8 or we trade down ourself as long as we can assure ourselves of grabbing Redick.

    1. 1983 - Draft McCray over Clyde (who played at Houston for crying out loud)

    2. 1984 - Turned down Chicago's offer of the #3 pick (Michael Jordan) apparently after Jordan was secured by the Bulls, in exchange for Ralph Sampson

    3. 2001 - Traded the #23 pick (scrub Brandon Armstrong), the #18 pick (Collins), and the #13 pick (RJ) for the #7 pick (nutjob EG)

Not even mentioning Bryce Drew (and 3 #1 picks and NOT taking Rashard), Mirsad, Rhodes, and so forth.......

Don't even get me started on draft day blunders by the Rockets. The first 2 are colossal on an almost unheard of scale.

See the Brewer/Carney/Redick debate makes more sense because all 3 of them were going to be there at 8.

    This thing is just shaky.

I just don't see how Roy or Morrison either one would fall to #5. They are too good as far as right now versus where other players are right now, and the quality bigs that teams are looking at top 5 stops at Bargnani, Aldridge, Shelden.

So then to me we would have to assume Aldridge or Bargnani falls, or someone moves up like Gay.

So why would Charlotte and Portland BOTH Roy and Morrison?

So to me this is probably exactly why Houston was going after the #4 pick.

I think this #5 pick deal is flimsy, it's based on the idea that Tellem can rig the draft and force two teams to pass on Roy.

And none of this even considers that Chicago might take either Morrison or Roy, because looking at that team, they can trade Gordon and Deng and even Duhon with them in a package deal to get a PF or some other top player maybe like Marion's on the block for example.

They have Roy or Morrison at SG that opens up.

So to me it just seems like a leap of faith that all these teams are just forgetting about Roy because Tellem said to.

The trade is not made until Atlanta is on the clock and Roy is still on the clock.

If, if, if that is the case, then you do the deal, don't you?

Depends on who went 1-4, and also on if they just want Luther.

Yes. The scenario is this: Atlanta is on the clock and Roy has not been picked and Shelden has not been picked. We can send send the #8 and Luther to Atlanta for #5. You have to do that deal, don't you?

    Draft is going like this:

    1. Bargnani
    2. Aldridge or Tyrus Thomas
    3. Rudy Gay
    4. Adam Morrison
    5. Brandon Roy
    6. Randy Foye or Marcus Williams
    7. Aldridge or Thomas

    Why?

If Bargnani, Aldridge, Morrison, Gay are on the board also, why do you HAVE to do that deal?

If all you have to do is take Shelden at 8 send back Luther, then if any of those other players are on the board why does it "have" to be Roy?

I'm not saying the Rockets shouldn't do it if they can, I'm just wondering why everyone thinks it has to be Roy?

Um... the trade won't be made until Atlanta picked Roy and Houston picked Shelden Williams. I think if for some reason Williams came off the board between 5 and 8 (he shouldn't) Atlanta would keep Roy.

Compucomp the board hasn't thought anything much through.

They are assuming Tellem is running the draft.

Also you never know what a GM will do even some might try to sabotage the Houston deal.

If the Rockets did the Portland deal they can get probably one of Roy or Morrison.

100 percent getting Roy with this Atlanta deal seems a bit far fetched.
