CD is one of the best GMs in the business. To the guy that thinks this organization always makes poor decisions. We have won more championships in the last 20 years than any other franchise save 3. And we are on the cusp of competing for more championships with the additions of Roy, and the other talent that CD brings in this year. In the high risk game of poker otherwise referred to as managing an NBA team, CD is at the top of the charts. No, he's not going to win the WSOP every year, but he has won a couple and he has plenty of really good showings. It will serve the new kid well to learn from CD this year and to continue to learn from CD after he retires and goes into consulting.
How many titles have we competed for since CD has been GM? How many times have we been out of the first round of the playoffs since CD has been GM? I'm not going to jump on the "bash CD" bandwagon, but the "....one of the best GM's in the business" comment is a gross overstatement.
Updated: http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1374 Edit: Nevermind, no rocket updates were made.
Undersized combo guards who don't do one thing particularly well should not hold up a chance to get Brandon Roy. You people are seriously delusional if you think Luther Head is some sort of golden ticket that will bring more than this. He won't. Trade Head. Get Roy. Sign James. (Lebron ; ) Win NBA Championship.
Man I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. I have been for drafting Roy ever since the season ended, but just today i read Clutch's profile of Brandon Roy and his upside is listed as Michael Dickerson . I mean if that is his true upside then he is definately not worth trading up for and giving up head in the process . http://www.clutchfans.net/nbadraft/profiles/2006/brandon_roy/ But I think his upside will be more on par with Cuttino's then Dickerson, But it did get me thinking a lil bit.
it's just clutch's opinion of his upside or what have you, I completely disagree with it none the less. adam morrison's comparison was wally world, he hasn't even played a game yet and he's better than wally if you ask me -- he's going to be a star. there was a couple others like that, it's nothing to read into.
I don't think Clutch was too far off in that comparison. Its an NBA parallel that Rocket fans can relate to. You've got to remember that Dickerson was a better player than Mobley when they were both with Houston. Better SG size and more complete, to say the least. Don't forget, it was mainly the presence of MD in the deal with Vancouver that got us Steve Francis. And subsequently Tracy McGrady. So Roy = Dickerson = Francis = McGrady. Therefore, Roy = McGrady. EDIT:
Dallas is my first name. It's a family name. I'm the third Dallas in my family. My family is from Houston, and I live in Austin. I've never spent a single second of my life in Dallas. But, to answer your question, F*** THE MAVS!!!
Dickerson, what happened to him? I know injuries made him call it quits, but were they that bad? He was still young and could produce, a very nice player.
