There was a trade exception involved.

In regards to the Artest trade, chalk that one up to the indecisive Magoofs. Apparently, a trade was in place between the 2 GMs, then it was vetoed by the Maloofs because they didn't want give Adleman any ammunition. Sounds like they kind of regret letting their coach go.

On the Diogu note, if he's traded for, I'm not so sure I would take Chuck back. Too small of a PF rotation in my opinion

At 6'8, Diogu would be another undersized PF in the Western Conference to be abused by the likes of Duncan, KG, Randolph, Camby, Nene, Dirk and a plethora of others! I would draft the best player left on the board at #26.

Not really, the Maloofs and Adelman pretty much just hate each other's guts.

I just checked out Diogu's Hot Zones stats. Down on the low block (around 10 feet and in/near the basket) is where his game was. He shot 47% from there. To put that in perspective, Chuck Hayes shot 59% and Juwan shot 53% from that same area. For kicks.... Rafer shot 45% from that area. :D

Why are people so excited about this.

He has ahad a few good games in his career. Heck, in the 2nd to last game of the season he put up great stats against Atlanta, but then Tyrone Lue had 25 points, 8 assists that game...

...the stats seem kind of meaningless, good or bad.

Back to evaluating potential, and a history to date of not achieving it.

I guess to the extent your likely to get a nobody with the 26th pick, this is a good deal, but no reason to get real pumped about it or anything.

If giving up Head, too, it's ridiculous. Head is hands-down the better NBA player, why give up a pick, too?

If Diogu gets those passes Chuck Hayes got from T-Mac or whatever, Diogu will shoot 60+% in that zone. It's dunks vs. layups.

Ike averaged 1.38 points per shot in an off year when he was traded from one crappy team to another. To put that in perspective, Chuck Hayes averaged 1.31 points per shot, on a very good team in a year when he shot very well and most of his shots were generated cleaning up garbage from Yao or converting a layup on a pick and roll pass from McGrady and Juwan averaged 1.16 points per shot in a year when he shot really for a playoff team. For kicks.... Rafer scored less than 1.07 points per shot. : )

Ike is a very good offensive player that draws contact and fouls. He would be a very good offensive addition to our team.

what makes you think the 26th pick, a rookie, wont get dominated by those PF's?

at 6'8, he's marginally undersized, and makes up for it with a friggan 7'4 wingspan. yao ming's wingspan is 7'5. i really dont think an extra inch or 2 would help him defending against a KG or Duncan. gooden and verajao are both 6'10...didnt help them much.

point is, he's bigger than chuck, and would give us a player who could actually guard carlos boozer. he's shown he can play in the NBA and should get better.

as far as not getting much playing time...some guy named jermaine o'neal was in front of him on the depth chart...

Devil's advocate : If they were so crappy and he's a good offensive player, how come he couldn't find major minutes on either team consistently? On the Warriors I believe he beat out Adonal Foyle(?).

FYI : I checked out his stats from the previous season. He shot 57% from the same area. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. :)

Pretty simple really. Because in his first year, he was playing behind Troy Murphy whom Golden State had just handed a $10 mill a year contract. He then got to go to Indy WITH Murphy to back up O'neal.

We have Yao, Tmac and Bonzi on our team....our P/F doesn't have to be a frickin All-Star....we need someone more servicable that Chuck Hayes and I think Diogu fills that void.

I remember hearing that Diogu butted heads with Nelly... possibly because Nelly found him to be mistake-prone.

this is the best trade rumor/discussion i've seen since the artest speculation. i like it. and if we could some how get marquis daniels too, morey would be my hero. the rox would go from being my team to my type of team. the lineups would be endless...

    PERFECT TRADE.

we don't need an all-star PF. we need a "decent/serviceable" PF who rebounds/defends => basically a banger. ike has that banging body to bang w/ boozer... then we have hayes coming behind him. i'm happy w/ that position now.

Because the best player at #26 won't get abused by the likes of Duncan? And what's Camby and Nene doing on your list?

I still don't understand all the excitement. Ike barely got any playing time on two lottery teams and now Indiana wants to give him to us for a low draft pick? Doesn't sound too promising...I hope we don't end up having a starting PF rotation of Hayes/Ike next yr. Heck even Chris Wilcox would probably be better.
