Is The_Yoyo done reading the full CBA yet? I have been trying to tell him and others this in about three different threads, but no one appears willing to listen. Thank you, NIKEstrad and aelliott, for chiming in. The BBS needs more capologists like you. (Btw, The_Yoyo, no disrespect intended. You're one of the best Rockets fans out there. Just please listen to the guys who know their stuff on CBA issues. NIKEstrad and aelliott are rarely--if ever--wrong on these things.)
....which is why I said I'm more concerned with his defense and his ability to score down low rather than P&R? I'm not going to downplay Amare's lackluster rebounding numbers, but Amare can rebound the ball if/when he puts his mind to it. Of course that's not all the time, but that's a lot better than a power forward who doesn't want to rebound at all. Is a power forward that only manages to rebound the ball, say, half the time worth Max money? I highly doubt it but I'm sure Morey has looked at his calculations and numbers and saw something worthwhile about Amare. Afterall, he could go after Boozer (who's a much better rebounder) instead of Stoudemire.
Amare's health and attitude are bigger concerns than his lack of defense. He could turn out to be TMac v2.0.
Houston Interested In Amare, Amare Tweets Farewell by Seth Pollack We've long thought that Houston was a team who would make a run at Amare given how hard they went after him at the trade deadline and how desperate they seem to bring in another big name front court player to go with Yao Ming. So it came as no surprised when KTAR tweeted this rumor: Twitter / John Gambadoro: New developments - Houston ... New developments - Houston Rockets interested in Amare Stoudemire. Would likely be a sign and trade with Luis Scola and Battier if it hapens http://arizona.sbnation.com/2010/6/...ent?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
The issue with Scola is that when he's signed he'll be a BYC player and that would complicate trading him. It could be done but the BYC status makes it more difficult.
Amare is not better than bosh and its not even close Bosh plays in toronto where they get no tv time or love from the media, Amare plays on the most exciting team to watch because of there up tempo game and is benefiting from the fact that he gets to play with steve nash. Amare has NO post moves or game. Wants his athleticism declines so does his career, which I believe is very soon.
Compared to McGrady, Amare is an iron man and is a model citizen. McGrady's had a laundry list of injuries and was too much into saying the right things to the media and to us fans that, when **** hit the fan, he tried to flip the script (re: the year he said "Yea, it's on me. It's all on me. Everything is my fault. It's my fault you're drinking crap beer blah blah". I'm sorry, Tracy, we weren't the ones that publicly stated it's "on us" and failed to deliver). I'm still waiting on the opportunity to purchase a Stromile Swift All Star jersey btw.
Cut the crap! If we get Amare we are championship bound. If we just giving up Scola and Battier... you do that. It's a no brainer.
We say that now, but i remember a guy named Carl Laundry who we all adored who didnt rebound or defend particularly well. My point is Amare is MILES ahead of Laundry as a player and would help the Rockets immediatley. I'm sure if we dissected Bosh's game too, we'd fine as many flaws. Comes with the territory
Bosh also has a total of 1 winning season in his career. There is no way bosh is better and "it's not even close." Amare has proven to be a force on a contender in the west almsot every year of his career. Bosh has yet to do that.
Amare has his holes in his game, namely his defense, and no he's not as explosive as he was before his microfracture; but face it people, he's better than anything we've got right now, I would say unquestionably a top ten offensive player as is. If you get a chance to acquire a player of that caliber you still do it. No he's not as shiny as a Lebron or Chris Bosh, both of whom have more complete games, but we can still gameplan around his defense and make use of his absolutely unstoppable ability on offense.
He's so explosive that he averages less than 9 rebounds in 34.6 minutes. He is averaged a career low 1 block a game vs 1.6-2 blocks earlier in his career.
another throw luis under the bus thread geez i love luis and it seems like the rockets feel we must add another pf to the lineup that is flashier, these rumors will take their toll...
