If he had no interest in Amare he wouldn't have negotiated a trade for him in February. Also, he wouldn't schedule a meeting with Amare during the beginning of free agency.
Another team could beat that offer, but Amare would have to agree to go there. Phoenix has some leverage(the 30 million dollar difference), but not enough to be that picky. Teams also tend to like young, cheap prospects rather than highly paid guys 30 or older.
Gambo620 Amare won't settle for less than a 5 year deal, Phoenix not willing to go more then 4 years. Pat Riley flew to LA to meet with Amare tonite Gambo620 Based on my latest phone conversation it does not appear that the Amare Stoudemire will remain with the Phoenix Suns
Or if you don't have a true center. Look at Houston last year. When you have Shaq on crutches, or Robin Lopez in the green, you will not get good rebounding.
There are six contingency plans. This is one. Seems like a lot injury risk in the proposed starting 5 in exchange for our veteran leadership ... Scola has been the effort guy for the Rox.

I know I am in the minority but if we could give Amare a 5 year 80 Million deal and get him for something like Budinger+Jeffries+Andersen+2012 pick I would jump at it. Yao/Hill Amare/Scola Battier/Ariza Martin/Taylor Brooks/Lowry
It means more rebounds for Amare to grab. He is mediocre rebounder, not poor or great. He averages about 9 rebounds in 35-36 minutes.
4, 9, 9, 5, 9, 7. Those are Gasol's rebounding numbers against Amare in the same series. It's not that much better than Amare's wouldn't you say? In fact, Bynum (4,7,2,8,7,6) didn't fare that much better than Stoudemire either. I'm not concerned about Stoudemire's rebounding as much as I am about his defense and his ability to create down low without the usage of the P&R (something he'll definitely have to do more of if he's going to be a Rocket)
In actuality, it means that Francis is just a really good rebounder for his height/position. The guy did post a 20/5/5 season IIRC.
Gasol is sharing the boards with Bynum and Odom. Amare has to fight for boards with? I don't see how anyone who watched that series couldn't see that Amare was failing on the defensive/rebounding end. To top it off, he wasn't very aggressive outside of his big game, as far as attacking the basket and not just settling for jumpers.
my fault. thought you put Amare's stats there only. his rebound #s weren't great there. but you gotta consider that he went against Odom, Gasol AND Bynum with Robin Lopez coming back from injury and not much else help in the rebounding department. maybe his rebounding stats would've been better if his teammates boxed-out a little more often
I think there are teams that Amare would be interested in that could beat our offer. Just depends on what teams wants to put together some pieces from their roster and make a go at him. Morey tends to like young, cheap prospects rather than highly paid guys 30 or older...other GM's aren't quite as smart
