if the suns get amare back healthy then marion is definitely expendable for lewis. getting lewis and potentially redick at ten would be almost unfair shooting-wise.
I guess the Phoenix-Chicago Trade is dead. That is interesting as far as the draft. That means Paxson will either take Aldridge or Thomas with the second pick unless the Lakers sneak in and offer Odom again for Chicago. Paxson can send Chandler and the 2nd pick for Odom instead of Marion. I really hope that doesn't happen. Roy sounded very optimistic about Houston. Keep the fingers crossed until Wednesday!
i wouldn't even think about trading the second pick in the draft for odom let alone throwing in chandler.
OMG if jj was on the suns that would just be evil. with that suggested starting line up positions one through four are all high percentage three point threats.
Sounds like the Suns are looking at Ronnie Brewer with the #10 pick if they make the deal. No surprise. Probably see Brewer as a poor-man's Joe Johnson. Brewer would do well in Phoenix. As a Rockets fan, I would hate to see that happen. The only thing that would make be bare it, is if the Rockets were able to get Roy.
There’s no team in the league better at finding young talent than Phoenix. If they want Brewer so badly, that bodes well for him as a player. The Rockets should take a serious look at him with the #8 pick, rather than worrying so much about making a move for one of these high profile players (Roy or Thomas).
Like I said before, Marion is expendable after Diaw's breakout season. It doesn't really matter if it was his only good season--as long as Nash is still there, Diaw will have the same productivity. Storm Surge brings up a very good point too. Marion can't create his shot as well as Diaw can. Diaw can play post and take his man off the dribble while the only plays Marion gets are the open baskets from fast breaks and baseline cuts or the open 3 from the side. I had a feeling that Marion was as good as gone when Amare blew up last year (same position almost) and that opinion has been solidified with the emergence of Diaw. As for throwing in Barbosa, I think that is going to cost Phoenix unless whoever they pick at #10 will pan out. Barbosa was Nash's only steady back up at the point and he was easily the fastest player they had..not to mention the defense he played. So I guess the Suns are assuming that Brewer can be the same player? Personally, if I were Phoenix, I rather see if that Chandler/#2 pick rumor has any legs. That could solidify their team twice over. A shotblocking center that isn't as injured as Kurt Thomas and the #2 pick? They could easily draft Morrison and call it a day.
You may be right. I'm OK with Brewer at #8, but Rudy Gay has always been the player I wanted the most. If I had a choice at #8 between Brewer and Thomas, I'd take Brewer. Gay and Roy are the only players worth trading up to #4/5 for, IMO.
I agree with you on roy he would be worth it. His ball handleing and shot creation look great. If we made that trade and ended up geting thomas i would be very puzzled.
marion USED to be able to create his own shot...wasnt great at it but it was effective. lets not forget he was an all-star BEFORE nash was there too. marion was considered a franchise player when he played with marbury (marbury doesnt pass too often as we all know) and phx played mostly iso for them both. playing with marbury he still averaged close to 20 and 10 with a good fg%. marions not just a fast pace player as many believe, he just excels at the fast pace and is built well for it. i wouldnt trade away marion with diaw as a replacement...marion does the dirty work for phx and plays good deffense, plays without the ball to get his points, not to mention him playing out of position and getting 20 and 10 with more or close to the same number of double-doubles as two former mvp's and 7-footers(duncan and kg) dont over look who he had to guard and play against in the finals either...odom, brand, nowitski(however u spell it)
