Thanks for this. For some reason I was thinking Juwan only had 1 year left on his contract. IMO we are trading one bad contract for another except Miles will only be about 30 or 31 when his contract is up whereas we would witness Juwan in his late 30's. Let's hope if the deal happens that Miles isn't a bonehead. I am not sure why everyone thinks we would take Thomas if we got the 4th pick. Basically we are just covering our ass in case Thomas is the only one there out of Morrison and Roy. Roy is definitely the one we are targeting.
Didn't CD say he tried to trade up for Gerald Green last year? gay could very well be in the picture.
Per dollar earned, it's quite possible he'll produce more over the next few years than Juwan Howard (who's been in a steady decline for a couple years now). He adds some versatility and athleticism to our offense. He's capable of being a good defensive player if he's focused (based on an adjusted +/- analysis, he was one of the best defensive SFs a few years back). Maybe along side players that demand respect like Yao, Tracy, and Mutombo he'd shape up a bit.
ANd we all thought ( myself included) That JVG was nuts to be giving Jho that many minutes ahead of Stro- JVG you are sly fox! Boy! Am I thrilled- Roy or Bargnani with #4 Steve Novak /James white/Mike Gansey with #32 Boy this is almost too good to be true! J Ho gone- that is fanatastic news for the team. Look out world here we come!
You are very welcome. If we select Roy at 4. We still need a power forward. I am not sure that Stro can start with last season dismal performance. I know we signed Hayes, but he is undersized. He also did not play well for long stretches during games.
This has got to be their plan. I think the title of this thread should be changed because I don't think Tyrus Thomas is in our plans if we do make this "trade". Considering he might go #2 and that we seem to be higher on Roy and Morrison than anyone else I am still confused on why everyone thinks this solidifies us trying to get Thomas. I really don't think we would go with our power forwards being Swift and Thomas and Hayes. I think Swift and Hayes would do just fine but more than likely we would try to fill the PF position some other way if need be, possibly with Miles seeing time there.
IMHO TRADE TO GET THE 4th PICK in the 2006 DRAFT VERY ENCOURAGING Trade For MILES............NO!! Trade for Raldolph..........Prefered! Trade of Howard.............YES! Trade of Head.................NO! If we are forced to take Miles CD should go for all the goodies [ more picks] only give up the 8th pick not the 32nd.or next year. THOMAS.....NO ROY...YES MORRISON .......YES BARGNANI..........YES ALDRIDGE............YES JJ......YES BREWER..............YES Go Rockets Go !!!!!! CD, MOREY and JVG
For his role on such a bad team his numbers and career averages should be better. Harpring would be cheaper and offer the same. Both of these guys would be replacing Bogans as the primary backup sg/sf.
correct me if i'm wrong, but if you're spending $7.8M on a player, he better start right? miles will be in the starting lineup if we get him. my guess is that he plays PF much like our version of Haslem. haslem is a better rebounder, but the defense is still there on both sides. think morrison or roy with our pick. thomas was in town incase he fell. DONT WORRY about miles being a head case. winning situatiojns fix everything. look at the pistons and the heat. how many of those players were headcases before becoming champions?
Let's say this goes down. Would you then move the #4 to NOH for #12, #15 and JR? It was said that they offered it for the #3 from the Bobcats. Maybe they would do it for #4. Mike James (MLE) / Alston / Dee Brown (#32) JJ Redick (#12) / JR Smith / Head T-Mac / Miles Stro / Hilton Armstrong (#15) / Hayes Yao / Deke
I'd be happy with Swift/Hayes splitting the minutes at the 4 and Swift/Deke backing up Yao depending on matchups. If needed, we can revisit this position next offseason. We really need backcourt help with Sura/Wesley/Barry gone, all we have are Alston & Head. Let Miles back up the 2 and 3, eventually Roy can start at the 2 with Head picking up the scraps. We still need to sign a point, perhaps Mike James. That would give us a lot more options in the backcourt than we currently have with SOMEONE being able to step up on the bad shooting nights.
That's how I see him. He would play minutes at the 4, 3 and 2 coming off the bench. That type of versatility would be great to have off of the bench.
I not sure on the validity of this trade. What would our line-up be? Roy Alston Yao McGrady Swift??? Miles would be a 7 Million sixth man??? or McGrady Alston Yao Miles Swift or Thomas I not sure about either lineups.
Hell no. I'm hesitant to make that trade with the 8th pick. No way I'd give up a #4 for that package.
