The height of shooting guards from each team of the NBA: Kobe: 6'7 Stephen Jackson: 6'8 Pierce: 6'7 Rose: 6'8 (Assuming Pippen plays the SF position) Finley: 6'7 Hamilton: 6'7 Jason Richardson: 6'7 Q Richardson: 6'6 Houston: 6'6 Battier: 6'8 Butler: 6'6 Kittles: 6'5 Giricek: 6'6 AI: 6'0 (Cat is not AI... no one is) Ginobili: 6'6 Sprewel: 6'5 Harpring: 6'7 (Kirilenko will play SF) LeBron James: 6'8 Penney Hardaway: 6'7 Wells: 6'5 Reggie Miller: 6'7 Ray Allen: 6'6 Redd: 6'6 Christie: 6'6 Hope I did not miss any team. Cat is definitly too short. He is listed as 6'4 but he does not look taller than Francis when they stand together.
got an email from someone in houston that said this "well, i just listened to the sports hour on 610 radio, and they made a Rockets report with zero mention of anything...just about 15 minutes ago. 7:30 eastern time"
Let me get this straight: The Rockets are going to trade 2 first round draft picks and a proven 22 ppg scorer in the NBA for T.Battie and Eric Williams. LOL give me a freaking break. Why do people post such garbage rumors, without using their own brain first? GET REAL!
Hey, we both agree on something! And we're in the minority! I think they're both good players and could fit in well here(as starters even) under JVG, but unless we're giving up mooch's contract as well as getting a decent 1st rounder, I think we're giving up too much talent-wise for me to agree to like it.
And another thing, eddie didnt want to play basketball. But if hes traded to boston and plays then, then it was all a ploy by his agent to skip practices just to be traded. I told you all this last week. I said .1.he wouldnt play anymore for us, 2.he was doing this to demand a trade without going to media I could take names of the morons who disagreed with me,but I wont.
Smeggie - I'm going to exit this thread with one last parting comment. The last time I recall reading this many one-sided opinions about a Rockets trade was all the hooray amd hoorah going on when the Rox traded for Glen Rice and discarded Shandon Anderson. You have been around long enough to recall it. About 7 brave souls - Will, MacBeth, myself and 3 or 4 others were roundly trumpeted out when we stated the obvious fact of the time - he was damaged goods from Day 1. We were truly verbally abused. Severely so. This thread has that exact same feel to it. Sorry, I just don't share you evaluations of Williams and Battie. Carry on.
I was listening to it an hour ago. They did mention it, but they said it was just a rumour. And the 610 guys think that there were indeed talks between Boston and Houston, but that they decided not to do the deal.
And what is worse is one of those 1st round picks was obtained from 3 1st round picks! Just horrible!
Even is there was a combination or players, do you think Boston would give up there only franchise player right now?
OK, let me say a few things: I think Eric Williams is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, who is a very good defender and, on the other end, has decent range but can get to the line whenever he wants to (really good at drawing contact). The Celtics are always using him to exploit matchups, his is usually assigned to guys like Jamal Mashburn. Battie is a lot like Kenyon Martin, only not strong enough to face defenders and dunk over them when there's contact. He had my all-star vote last year. But if the Rockets actually sign onto this deal (which I doubt), then the team brass all must be stuck on an acid trip. Unless Griffin really is a headcase, or there are mitigating factors in the salaries, then this makes absolutely no sense.
I have no problem trading Nachbar. I'm also willing to trade Griffin although I would like to keep him. Trading Mobley is out of the question though. That guy has more heart than anyone else on the Rockets.
So how is a lot like Kenyon Martin? If you mean in terms of hustle and being hard-nosed then yes, but Martin is physically very strong as uses his strength to his advantage.
I hope this doesnt happen.... Cuttino Mobley! Eddie Griffin! and Nachbar! for those losers! thats crap!
Thanks GATER. So are you telling me the TE doesn't come off the cap until it expires? And in doing so it counts towards the the Rockets total cap figure and therefore the luxury tax limit? Or maybe it counts for the cap but not the luxury tax? It would have to help somehow for the Rocks to make the GR trade, which of course allowed us to sign JJ (at least this is what we were lead to believe). Ok, so I understand the amount of the TE would diminish by the incoming player's salary. And if I'm understanding correctly the total cap figure would not change. But the total cap figure does obviously figure into the luxury tax, right? Or are we saying that the Rocks are a bit above the luxury tax and that has never changed with these trades? Would we actually fall below? I didn't think we were that close.
just EG for battie seems like a good deal to me looks to me that JVG is not fond of cat so i can understand why he might be part of this deal but he could get us SOOO much more than that as for boki, why would JVG wanna let him go? he seems to like the kid a lot: hes working hard and he doesnt give up i thought the amaechi trade was bad enough *sigh*
FWIW, someone on the RealGM Celtics board said the holdup is Danny Ainge wanting Boki for a pick thrown in with Cat and EG for Battie and Eric Williams. Salaries match without throwing in Boki, but Boki makes it slightly more balanced. Eddie must be dog poop to management for them to even entertain this trade. I think I'm coming around to the idea that this might not be completely asinine, but it still sucks.
I was hoping a trade would go down with the Rockets but certainly not this one. Be careful for what you wish for huh. It's obvious that JVG is trying to get his type players in here but lets not do it at the cost of losing out in the trade. The Rockets can obviously get more then Battie and Williams and I think they are starting to relize this. Hopefully that is why they backed out. Oh, and I think the same players involved in this trade could easly net us these New York players. Mobley, Griffin, Mooch for Kurt Thomas, Ward
This trade is payback for years of Boston's agony over the infamous Larry Anderson for Jeff Bagwell trade.
