I still think the deal that works is a 3 way with NYK and ORL with us getting the Dallas pick and AG. It always appeared that was the best deal we could get for Dipo. I NEVER, repeat NEVER would trade with Miami unless it was to give them Wall and that's not happening. They don't get **** and they can like it. If they can put something together for Wall and Dipo we have something to discuss until then they can swallow their depleted assets. You don't make trades with teams when they are drowning to help them out. You make trades to help yourself. Us giving ANYTHING to Miami does what for us? IDGAF what Dipo wanted or else we wouldn't be mentioning them in the first place. Dipo should never have been brought here or should have been shipped out to NYK immediately which I thought was happening when the Harden trade went down. Likewise, you don't trade with GSW unless you are getting Wiggins and the Minny pick or there is nothing to discuss. We are supposed to be maximizing assets and the FO has done a fine job of sh1tting the bed on it since the Harden trade. Tucker had value at that time. EGo was an asset that needed to be gone sooner before he pulled the usual stunt again. Where is the damn vision in the FO besides the piggy bank?
What is your user name actually supposed to be? Every time I see it I think of a Future line where he says “I’ll split your ‘tato”
For me two things are true here: 1) Herro is overrated 2) We likely aren’t getting anyone much better than Herro back anyway So that is where I’m at on a return package
Need Stone to go ahead and get the next deal done. I’m trying to go on with my weekend already. Also, in before the thread “Stone only got the Nets picks/swaps and said return for Dipo, for James Harden?”
Few things to note. 1. Rockets play Sunday afternoon 2. Rockets play Monday 3. Rockets play Wednesday 4. Deadline is Thursday. 1A. Heat play Sunday afternoon 2A. Heat play Tuesday 3A. Heat play Thursday Neither team share an off day except today with an early game tomorrow. Any deal would require the Heat to send out multiple rotational guys. I'm sure they don't want to play any games short handed. I could see Sunday evening a day a trade gets done between the two as Oladipo doesn't play B2B here anyways. One last showcase on Sunday to see if the Heat buy. I doubt VO plays Monday or Wednesday regardless of if he's going to the Heat. Heat fans are turning on Duncan Robinson. I could see Duncan, KZ and Iggy being the eventual package if Herro is really as untouchable as it seems.
If that’s the deal I hope Iggy is flipped to a third team. He would be wasted and unhappy here as we offer no shot at winning a game, little lone a title.
100% that’s why I prefer him over Kelly. I have GSW for Oubre or Boston for a pick or Nesmith penciled in. I personally prefer sending them a pick and getting Herro but I’m not sure what’s actually available.
I'd be okay with a Robinson/KZ return for Dipo. Wall/KPJ/Wood/Draft Pick/Robinson/Tate/KMJ/Gordon/KZ rotation? That could make some noise. I'd be less thrilled about a Nunn centered package, not because I hate the player, we'd just be really guard heavy.
I love your passion for bringing in AG. You obviously think he would be very productive on the Rockets. However, don't you think that that production is counter to the tank? Also, would such a move almost certainly help to push orlando further down the standings and, perhaps, in front of the Rockets for a top 4 pick? I'm down for AG but in the off-season. Persuade me that AG now is worth more than AG and Cade/Mobley/Green/Kuminga/Suggs in the off-season.
Disagree with his value, but understand your perspective. Dipo has been woefully inconsistent this year, but I think there are a variety of reasons for that beyond his physical skills. Let's look at his last 2 games vs Hawks and Pistons. Without Wall against the Hawks he looked pretty damn good and was highly efficient. He played within the flow of the game and was the player of the game for the Rockets. He played 41 minutes, scored 34 pts on 13/20 shooting including 4/6 from 3pt range. He also added 5 assists and 3 rebs. Last night he wasn't into the flow, I've noticed Wall has a tendency to forget his role and teammates and become "the franchise". He missed Wood on numerous occasions and Oladipo as well. VO was terribly inefficient 7/18 FG and 2/9 3PT from deep, which made his overall performance look bad. The point here is that we've had the most inconsistent lineups in the league. One game KPJ is running PG and the next its Wall, different players with different styles, but both are QBing your offense. The yoyoing lineups has had an impact on VO, maybe more so than other players. Load management is another factor that can compound VO's consistency. In one game and out the next, has to make it tough on your rhythm. I think this is about mitigating risk for his trade value (limiting injuries) vs his ability to play more consistently. I don't necessarily disagree with this approach, but believe its a factor. Finally, we suck. It has to be especially disheartening to get traded from a team competing for the play-offs to a team competing for #1 pick. I say all of this and I'm never been a VO fan, I appreciate he's a 2-way player and enjoyed when he plays like he did against the Hawks. He's only 28 years old and still recovering his game from 2-years of injuries. We've seen glimpses of him being a more than solid #3 option on a contender this year and we just need one team to bite on believing a change of scenery and more stable environment will be what he needs to return to form. I mean he can get you 20+ pts a night, guard 1-3, and seems like a positive contributor overall. PJ was a totally different player with a different value prop. If we can't get anything decent before the trade deadline, we should ride him out and see if we can get value with his bird rights after the season. Teams like MIA don't have the cap to just sign him, so they'll likely rather work a trade.
If we want Herro so bad, we could jsut trade Dipo to Orlando for Fournier. He’s basically the ceiling for Herro but already their..
I think Herro is overrated but we need more catch and shoot types because our guard are so ball dominant and we lack spot up shooters. Wall Dipo and Gordon are so redundant it’s ridiculous. I easily want two gone, if not all three
VO physical body language jsut looks bad. He looks like he hurts everytime he moves. Like Kawhi. I can’t watch him play the game in peace and not think his body is a walking time bomb. I like his game though too. He has a skills that aren’t duplicated on this team. But like I said he just looks hurt everytime he drives and his passes have no velocity in them. His body is definitely older than his age.
My problem with Oladipo, more than anything really, is the obvious stat padding. He rarely plays in the flow of the game, it seems like he is ALWAYS looking for his numbers and I can’t help but think it’s because of the contract situation. I think he’s a better player than what he is showing here and could be an extremely valuable guy on another team, but he’s too looking forward to the future elsewhere to ever be of any real value to Houston. He’s the absolute worst type of rental player and probably should have never been brought in at all.
Stat padding and contract situation-wise, of course. But he knows that he’s on the block and needs to show he’s “still got it”, so the “I’ll get mine, you get yours” is to be expected.
Neither Wall or Dipo play on the flow of their game. They got that 2002 Mobley symdrome. It’s hard to judge anyone on this system. All I know is Harden would have KJ set up to get paid.
I’m surprised Dallas hasn’t made an attempt to snag Dipo. He doesn’t solve their biggest need to rebound, but as a “big 3”, I could see those 3 raising their ceiling as a team. I can see Dipo as a number 3 guy on a good team - maybe a fringe #2 guy. Dallas has a clear #1 guy already...we unfortunately haven’t had a #1 guy in some time now.
