Players often figure out about trades just hours, minutes from it being announced, some figure out BY it being announced.

Stars want to play together, they want to win, and they want to control the direction of the organization. If you want to be a target for FA you have to clear the decks and have the RIGHT assets so you can give them the resources they need. Lavine is NOT a max player. Since when did Brooklyn or the Clippers or the Lakers or Miami have any hope in hell of winning anything before 2020 FA? Stars play the game of superteams where they call the shots and those destinations are occupied and its musical chairs once again.
