I dont know if it's false or not. But Morey already said the Rockets would start season with 13 or 14 players. So, good luck to Harris to stay with the Rockets. The Rockets dont need Harris. They need backup 1/2 or 5. I hope Morey will acquire 2 more big bodies in mid-season just to match up with the big frontlines of the Lakers and the Celtics if they really think about championship. I just dont buy in Dorsey will be a good enough backup C in his 1st season. btw, where did my post say the Rockets had already decided to cut Harris back in September?
We haven't even seen Dorsey step onto the NBA court, how can you pre judge and assume he can't be the backup Center? With all the combinations we can pull, it's not like we are going to employ him for 25 mins at the C position each night. The only time it comes into question is if Yao is absent for any games.
I have found this on a web site from my country. I don't think it's very reliable, it's just another rumor to talk about. If you remember summer league, there was an uruguayan PG named Gustavo Barrera who played for the Rockets. His uruguayan manager (Moglia) said that he could be called by Houston any of this days to play for them. According to this, they are waiting for the Rockets to cut Francis, so there can be a spot for another PG. I don't know how much info Moglia has, and the piece of info is vaguely (¿?) written anyway, but I thought I would share it with you. Barrera is playing for Atenas here, and is dominating the league. He averages 17.2 ppg, 9.6 assts, 5 rebs and 2.8 stls while shooting above 50% from the floor and about 80% from ft. On the other hand he averages about 4 to's per game and only 30% from 3pt. Atenas is first in the league and he is the best player there. Source: www.basketvip.com
Why does he have to play overseas? Can't he play for some loser team like Charlotte or the Clippers? Harris belongs in the NBA.
I'd be very surprised if he would get cut over Wafer. Maybe I'm underestimated Wafer but Harris played really solid when he got the chance last year IMO.
I will be very happy if the rockets sign Barrera. I really like his game. But, I don't think the rockets will cut Francis.
Wow. I was surprised we didn't signed him for the training camp. I'm sure Adelman really wanted his game at the SL.
The worst part about losing a guy like Harris is you know if you put him on the floor he will produce no matter what the circumstances. I'm not so sure I can say that about the other end of the bench guys. I say keep him and play him as a Bonzi Wells style SG when possible. Von Wafer and Strawberry would not be as productive as him in short minutes. I would rather have a basketball player than someone who fits at a position with less players.
I mean the rockets won't do it even though it is worth to do it. I really hope the rocekts can sign Barrera. They might cut another player to do that.
It didn't. I misread. Edit: Mike Harris responds: [rquoter] Mike Harris on a report from a Chinese website claiming he will be cut from the team and report to a CBA club in late October: "I really have no idea about that. I’m pretty cool and in contact with the guys over there – we’re friends and things like that. They asked me if I wouldn’t mind coming over, but I told them that my first priority is here and I want to be here. So I try not to even think about that. Those sites had me going over there in June and July as well, so they’re going to always say what they want to say over there. I enjoy talking to them and they’re cool people, but they’re going to make up whatever they want to despite what I say, so I try not to pay any attention to it." [/rquoter]

Could someone please list all the players we have under contract right now? I'd be surprised if there's no roster room for Harris. Good problem to have, I suppose... He's hard not to pull for.
