I could give less than a huge **** about anything happening in that GOD AWFUL region known as Africa. AIDS is doing most of the heavy lifting, and genocide is cleaning up the left overs. Years of crime, murder, rape, and savagery have shown that the inhabitants of that area can not be civil to one another. Everything that happens there is just one more excuse for some sort of Hutu to lop off the arms of another brand of Tutsi without considering that other person has a family, a life, and a hope of a better life like them.

I only mourn and cry for those like Bono that believe change can come from donating 2 dollars a day to buy some hungry Kenyan a bowl of rice.

what does me having a disdain for war monger money spenders like most Old School republicans have to do with how anyone feels about Africa? Now you are generalizing.
Also I am a moderate. I tend to vote more on the Democrat side but only because I feel like the Repubs care too much about putting their Christian views infront of the Government.

I would rather buy a PS3 instead and own a physical library. In the next 5 years, burners will get cheaper. I really don't like paying for ridiculous rentals. It sounds like the ill fated divx dvd player to me.

I thought Blu ray was capable of lossless encoding up to 8 channels of sound?

 

I'm just messing around now. The technology sounds pretty cool. maybe when I get a few more HD TV's for my house. Right now I'm limited to the one in my TV room, but there may be another soon to replace the Sony Flatscreen Tank in my bedroom.

 

say you have your PS3 and you want to watch a blu-ray of "Revenge of the Nerds" and your family wants to watch the blu-ray of "Hanna Montana". Blockbuster is out..

and you have some awesome 1080p system with DTS-HD receivers and martin logan speakers... and your kids have PS3s in their rooms

you can download both movies in seconds. Watch your Revenge of the nerds in the theater room. and your kids can stream Hanna Montana directly to their PS3s.

or hell you can be in the bathroom with your laptop and watch movies in 1080p.

you can get the digital downloads of that 'industry' now. Keep in mind, they were always the early adopters for everything

 

Ehhh... purely as a gaming system, I think I might agree that the 360 has a slight edge over the PS3. But I wouldn't say that's the PS3's only current advantage... how about better backwards compatibility, better upscaling, lower failure rates, and a handful of really good exclusives (Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, etc.)?

Like I said, I might give the overall edge to the 360 purely as a gaming system. After all, it has better online capability, and a longer list of quality exclusives (currently). But I can't agree that Blu-Ray playback is the *only* advantage the PS3 has.
