Actually the first guy hit the nail on the head...... the deal really is Boozer for Divac, Butler, and George.

I live in LA and saw the followup tonight. I think the Lakers made a GREAT move...... Atkins, Kobe, Odom, Boozer, Mihm is a pretty good lineup. I would think that gives then a solid core for years to come. Plus they still have Grant's huge contract that they can deal when he is in his last year for another piece.

Just as a side note, the Lakers inquired about Peja and BJax from the Kings, but they wanted Odom and others, with the Lakers front court as thin as it is they werent about to deal away their leading rebounder.

    PEACE

You make it seem like a done deal. This might be what has been discussed, but I've seen enough trade rumors to know that you can't really trust that it's going to go down until it hits the newsticker.

............the Jazz are learning how important Arroyo was to their success. This is one trade that they made to appease a very good coach that backfired on them. Sloan is another coach in the Van Gundy mold. He will never win it all until he learns how to bend a little bit. He screwed up the whole team by not working things out with Arroyo.

Isn't there a no trade announcement period during the all star break?

IE. even if a trade was consummated, they have to wait untill monday to announce it/make it official?

Chronicle mentioned Haley's report (without mentioning Haley or his report :)) this morning that rumors were Caron Butler+ for Boozer and possibly Lamar Odom to Sacramento for Peja Stojakovic.

Maybe Mobley gets his wish .... you know, with Odom bringing the ball up and he and Bibby on the wings .... it's over.

LOL, classic! I remember that one. ;)

If I am the Kings, I dont move Peja for Odom. I would move Peja for a good defensive player. A "sane" Artest would be the right fit. But now there is too much baggage.

Peja for Prince and Darko? That might be interesting.

What's with the Kings? If they trade Peja for Odom then it's not only us who will pass them in the standings - the Lakers probably will as well!

They need to hang on to Peja and move CWebb on to newer pastures....

I would beg my money on Yao turning thuggish than Artest becoming sane.

Now we know! I also thought it would be a lost cause. Knicks seemed like the only ones that might be dumb enough.

Jack Haley is in a bunker crying by now.

No he's not. He's reporting that the NBA has extended the deadline until next Thursday, but only for the Lakers and Jazz. You can trust Jack, he was in an Aerosmith video once.

Jack Haley is an idiot it is my firm belief that this trade would have gone through had he not opened his big mouth so early and called it a done deal. Everyone here in LA were raving about how great the deal would be and how they made a steal. People were starting to visual a core of boozer/odom/kobe which would have been great. In contrast everyone in Utah believed they were getting hosed in the deal giving up a consistent double-double in boozer for really only Butler. Divac is washed up and George is not any good either. Because of this outlash from the people in Utah the Jazz backed out of the trade at the last minute. Jack Haley was on La radio stations today saying what he reported wasnt wrong but the Jazz got "cold feet" at the last moment and the deal didnt go through, but the deal was just more than an idea thrown out.

Had Haley who isnt even a reporter or anything of the sort when it comes to reporting deals just kept his mouth shut LA would have been much better off. in the end i am happy cuz the lakers got the short end of the stick again:D

Haley didn't say the deal was close to happening ... he said it was pending league approval. He was definitely wrong, so there's really no reason to believe that the Jazz and Lakers were going to do this deal.

Actually he did say it was a done deal On friday nights SoCal Sports Report is when he said this. He went on Xtra Sports 570 here in la on tuesday and apologized himself for saying it was a done deal and that the deal was on the table and was close to being done is what he should have said. Either way both Haley and the Lakers come up with egg on the faces so i'm fine with that
