What exactly does this have to do with Lawson?

You could have put this in the random trades thread.

Ty Lawson was the player that was supposed to take us to the next level. Harden wants to ball all the time, Howard is fine with it, coaching staff is fine with it too. Leaves little room for Ty to do much but wait and get traded. I love Harden but he should not have to have the ball ALL the time.

Agreed. Ty isn't really aggressive even when he isn't playing with Harden, though. It's very frustrating.

Wish they'd just try the offense that worked with Ty in Denver when Harden is not on the court - would be great to cut down on our reliance on Harden playing 85% of the game.

Did Harden not playoff the ball some in OKC? He and Westbrook played long stretches together successfully. If they can do it, then he and another decent PG can too.

More and more it seems like this is on Lawson, dude was handed the starting job and 35 min a game and didn't do **** with it, was so bad he had to be benched. Now he gets like 10-15 min a game and has no impact whatsoever. At this rate he will be out of the league next year, smh.

Harden's role (and ego) was much smaller in OKC than it was here. And when he was deferring he was deferring to one player that is better than him and another player that you could argue is better than him as well. Lawson is not Westbrook and certainly not Durant.

Coaches never really properly figured out a role for Lawson and a way for him to coexist along with Harden. There was a reason why Harden did come off the bench in OKC. Unfortunately for Lawson he has been a start for most of his career, but he needs to be that crazy good sixth man for this team and just be given a green light. Harden has to accept that he wont be the primary ball handler or offensive option when Lawson is in the game (or preferably Harden is on the bench during these times)

These are the fans who think Harden's career began here. Harden played....and was Efficient with Durant and Westbrook.

Lawson GIVES the ball back to harden when he gets it, Lawson doesnt try to attack the defense at all he just runs in circles. and it ends up back in hardens hands. James tries to let him do his thing.

Ty has not been the same player in houston as he was in Denver. It's not all harden either, the guy can't seem to get in the paint and make plays for himself or his teamates. He was so good as attacking the Basket the pat few years, it's as if he's lost a step or 2?

He gets the ball enough to were he should be making a little impact but he has contributed anything besides 4 decent games. I wouldn't trade him yet because I don't think you wouod get any value anyways but we have to see if we can get this guy going and being semi productive. He's clearly not going to be the Allstar level pg we envisioned 2 months ago but he can hopefully be a spark plug off the bench for 12 and 6 nightly in 25-30 min.

If we could get that kind of production out of him it would help the team out a lot.

Problem is spacing, both Durant and Westbrook can shoot the three. I leave Lawson open all day to keep Harden out of the paint.

Did Ty get blocked this much when he played for Denver?

Part of it is the coaching staff not implementing him properly. Part of it is him not being aggressive. Part of it is Harden not letting him handle the ball enough.

Lawson's usage should be 2nd only to Harden. As it stands now, the rotation guys with higher usage numbers are Thornton, Jones, Howard, Ariza and Capela. I don't want Harden to defer, I just want Lawson to do what he does best. Harden doesn't need to defer for this to happen.

Lawson shouldn't have to come off the bench. When he started, he was on the floor 100% of the time Harden was on the bench. There will be some overlap. The Rockets will never, ever have an elite offense unless we have more than one player on the floor that can create shots for himself and others.

Lawson has failed miserably at everything we wanted him to do.

It's going to be a long tough process to break this team out of their current offensive mindset and to get them to actually play team ball.

They let it be the Harden show for far too long and now they can't or don't know how to break these guys out of it.

Agreed. However, I will say Harden lets Ty run the ball down the court but part 2 of your reasoning is probably why James is just taking it upon himself.

Every game I watch I keep hoping Ty will do something but it's always dribble around the perimeter, try to get in the lane, dribble out and pass to Harden or someone else. He doesn't look to attack. He hesitates to shoot. Even when James is out he defers to someone else. It's a bit frustrating cause I know he's better than that. Wish he had that Lowry fire and fight.
