David Lee is far more athletic than Luis. Defense is probably a wash. Lee is more explosive on offense.....explosive doesn't mean better. He is in a D'Antoni system guy, so his numbers may be inflated. I'd love to have them both. Start Lee and Yao, bring Luis off the bench. Maybe do a small lineup with them both at the 4/5. I'd much rather have Lee than Boozer, that's for sure.
Defense is a wash? are you kidding me? Lee might be the worst defensive PF in the league while luis might be in the top 5 best defensive PF's.Lee is a stat padder while luis is the complete opposite and most importantly Luis with the MLE can be had while Lee wants 16 million a year
With their cap space, they can sign whatever FA they can afford. If they're going to S&T, they'd have to do better than what they can get in free agency.
Houston MUST upgrade somewhere. To be sure, Scola is the better value player, but the point is not to be the most efficient (wins / team salary), but rather, to win the championship, EVEN IF IT COSTS LES' ENTIRE FORTUNE!
The Knicks tried that route and it blewup in their faces. You ave to be smart with the salary cap to have some leeway for future moves in the future.
I agree that we have to get better somewhere, but not at the pf spot IMO. I think Scola is the perfect pf for a championship team. The problem we had last year was size and that is probably the only thing you could upgrade at the pf spot. Scola has offense, some defense, and has the heart of a champion. If Yao can stay healthy (which is hard) I don't think we need to worry about size anyways. Sure, upgrading to someone like Lee or Bosh would be nice, but I don't think it is necessary because it wouldn't be that great of an upgrade. We can try to solidify other positions such as backup sg and center but not the pf position.
Did you not know? The Rockets think Yao will be limited to only 2 quarters, 20-25 mpg. Did you also know that Yao's surgery was a risky procedure that is rarely done? The doctors said he might not come back, if he gets injured again.
dont u see that Bosh would be ideal for us because Yao, even if healthy, will play limited minutes next year. if he goes out, knock on wood, bosh would be the ideal replacement that would still allow us to contend for a championship. i agree that an improvment in the pf position isnt really needed, but any team should welcome a chance to greatly improve their team by adding a superstar caliber player on their squad.
Yes, Bosh will allow us to compete if Yao gets hurt again, but then we would be playing with a small lineup again. Whether we get Bosh or not, I still think our chances at a championship depends on Yaos health. What hurt us last season was that we didn't have the size to defend or outrebound other teams. Without Yao, we still won't be able to defend or get rebounds. I think that we can win a title without Bosh and our chances will be improved with Bosh. I am just saying that it is not necessary to get Bosh because even if we do and Yao gets hurt, we still can't beat teams with great height like the lakers. Of course I welcome Bosh though.
well bosh is 6-11 and more than capable to play the 5 if need to. then move scola to the 4 (if we dont have scola due to the trade then move hayes or pat).
Bosh said himself that he is not comfortable playing the 5. He says that he only plays 4 so I doubt he can replace Yao at center.
all cause he said he didnt want to doesnt mean he cant. im sure if we absoluely need him to paly the 5 then he would be more than happy to.
How could you be so sure? Why didn't he say that if he had to he would? All he said was that he is not a 5 and wants to play at the 4. He didn't say that he would play at the 5 and I honestly think he wouldn't be as good if he played at the 5 anyways.
im so sure because if he plays for us, then it means we pay his salary. and if we are gonna do that then he better play the 5 for us. if we were in a situation where we needed him to play the 5 then im sure he would, just as magic played the 5 for La when kareem went down. for me ( i play the post ) there is really no difference between the positions. for me theres just one position and thats post. it doesnt matter to me whos the 4 or 5, as long as the stronger and taller player is the 5. btw he would have no problem playing the 5 because most centers in the league defended him anyways. (bc bargnani is more of a permiter player)
well yea but im only taking account the roster as if we only acquired bosh. we totally NEED a backup center. but im just saying that bosh is versitle to where we could use him at the 5
if he`s not asking for the max, i think he`d be just as good of a value as any of the other guys on the FA market.
