Yeah, "stealing" money from H-Town without the talent to take us up another notch in competitiveness.
That is something I do not completely see working. If they get Lebron and/or Melo, where does Danilo fit? He does not really have the speed to play and defend SG's, nor does he have the size to defend PF's. We would likely have to give up someone like Martin to get him though.
David Lee is sick. very underatted big man in the league. IMO had a better season that Dwight Howard and was the best big man in the league last year.
Some other Rocket Scientist posted he doesn't box out in another thread. Poor guy just keeps having 12 to 15 rebounds a game fall into his lap. I wish we had someone like him who doesn't know how to box out. Maybe we can teach Pat Patterson to stop boxing out and double digit rebounds will fall in his lap. We would not need Lee at all.
Anybody look better on offense playing for D'Antony, But if you check Scola Stats after Landry was traded, he was a 20-10 guy. And we already knows he fit the system and If he going to cost more money. No.
rockets will be a damned good team if we land david lee, but if rthe thunder get david lee, they will be a beast of a team!!!!!!
Knicks have no intentions on sign and trade for Lee unless the player(s) they get is/are superstar talent. I don't think the rockets are in a position to fit those requirements. Barring a three team trade, he isn't coming here.
so how does NY aquiring Amare effect Lee? do they play together? does Lee seek a new team? can NY afford to keep them both?
How could they dictate that? When Lee can just sign somewhere else and they get nothing in return at all instead of some talent around Amare to help him start winning right away while also getting expiring contracts to come off the books to sign another huge free agent next year? They could just end up resigning him or someone else and them get nothing in return. A team like the Rockets only consider him a luxury and helping the Knicks is a bonus to them instead of him leaving or them having to pay to keep him.
If they sign and trade Lee, they lose the cap room they are saving for LeBron. They do a s&t with Lee and get role players, their goal to get two superstars is gone. So to do a s&t, they really are going to have to love what they get back. And other teams will give up better players (ie fringe all stars) before we would if their dream free agents are gone. Just common sense math, no links. After Amare signs, they have $17 million left to spend.
I think that's why you'll see Lee wait it out. The Knicks have no intentions on a sign and trade with Lee, if it would interfere with their cap flexibility. But if they sign a Raymond Felton (or even LBJ, but of course that's fantasy world) to pair with Amar'e and opt to try for Carmelo in a year, they might be interested in a deal with expiring contracts and picks (no-cost assets).
Yeah but we really dont need Lee and their ability to have cap space is really not our concern its theirs. So if they want some good players around Amare and they can offer expiring contracts to them for net year for Carmello Anthony? Wouldnt that make more sense if they dont end up with Lebron or Wade? Seems Rockets have all the cards but none of these teams are willing to make good deals to help themselves? We should just keep all of them. We already helped the Knicks before and now they have options. I dont think Lee is a huge enough upgrade to give them anything worthwhile. They act like they are gonna keep him anyways. They are in reality gonna give him up for free to someone else or just resign him.
