To me, this only makes sense if we're trading both our young PFs (PP, Hill), or maybe if we traded PP and kept Hill at backup C. Lee is at best a little better than Scola. Or, if Scola were being S&T'd for a non-PF, like Joe Johnson. Even then, you'd think we could do a three-way deal, with Lee going to Atlanta, rather than Scola.
I think we just want an upgrade in regards to talent. We don't need Lee and he is a bit redundant, but he would be a talent upgrade and Yao/Lee/Scola is pretty strong as a group.
I was just joshin around, we have no need for Lee. Unless we expect him to be an undersized center with no defense, i rather just let anderson stretch the floor.
I'll be dancin' in the street if we got David Lee. I love his hustle, athleticism, has a great jumper, and great stage presence.
He's definitely not my first choice, but the dude can rebound. He's an instant double-double, but like others have written, he is redundant in terms of what the team needs. I like Amare at this point.
[rquoter]...... Two free-agent power forwards are getting close to making decisions on their futures – Amar’e Stoudemire and David Lee. Stoudemire is in New York City Monday to meet with Knicks officials – either to agree on a five-year, $99.8 million contract or agree to hunker down and await for from LeBron or Wade on whether they’re coming to New York or not. But one player who may not be willing to wait for the Knicks to handle their other business is Lee, who is getting inundated with calls from teams interested in taking him off the free-agent board regardless of what the Big Three do. Lee, who averaged 20.2 points and 11.7 rebounds last season, already has met face-to-face with the Bulls, Nets, Heat and Timberwolves. A league source with knowledge of the market for Lee told CBSSports.com Monday that the Knicks are engaged in discussions with Utah, Toronto, Houston, Golden State and Charlotte about a sign-and-trade arrangement involving Lee. This could be a key piece of the puzzle in the decision process for LeBron or Wade. Some of the Utah scenarios involve Carlos Boozer coming to New York, and some of the Toronto scenarios involve Bosh. Both players are high on the lists of power forwards both LeBron and Wade want to encourage to team up with them. What does that mean for Stoudemire? Potentially nothing. The Knicks are prepared to give LeBron or Wade a choice of big men to play with, and this feeling-out process could be the first step toward determining which of those options is viable. Charlotte and Golden State are involved because A) both covet Lee, and B) each has a point guard who’d complement Stoudemire if he winds up being the Knicks’ only top-tier signing. The Bobcats’ Raymond Felton and Warriors’ Monta Ellis have been on the Knicks’ radar for some time.[/rquoter] http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.c...3005770?tag=comBlogEntryListCnt;entry23005770
Lee is the most underrated defensive player in the league... D'Antoni is the problem, not Lee. He would play great defense in our system.
Like I said, Morey should make the Jare Jeffries + 2011 pick swap for Lee proposal to Walsh and record the reaction to be posted on rockets.com. Drive traffic on team website like crazy. However, I am guessing a certain Mr. Brooks or maybe Mr. Lowry is included in NY's wish list given how many PGs are mentioned recently as having NYK interested in them.
that would be a terrible move on the rockets part, a sidegrade for scola and lose brooks in the process? no thanks
