You also don't want it to get out that OKC and Orlando have talked (IF they have) with 4 of your players trying to earn gold for their countries (U.S., Spain). If there's anything to this, we won't know til after the Olympics.

And roster space and dollars available toi take back contracts and moves to fit incoming into new roster.

Hennigan has overplayed his hand IMHO. He has one choice - - hit a walk-off 5-run home run or be viewed poorly.

Lol at Howard in OKC. The Clippers seem shortsighted to me for not offering their barely almost Olympian backup and their over payed center.

Exactly. That's the best offer on the table. Thus Griffin straight up would be far superior so in the case of a Griffin trade, Orlando shouldn't expect to unload contracts or receive draft picks. Not that hard to follow.

Jordan's a worse contract than anything Orlando has left at this point. If the Magic actually want him, then they're stupider than I thought.

Bottom line, Clippers ain't happening. The fat racist pig won't trade his white cash cow for anything, especially since he can pay him cheap dollars for one more year. There's no real reason to discuss a Dwight for Clippers trade anymore than one should discuss the prospect of the Wizards trading Wall for Howard.

I think Hennigan could be holding back the Magic franchise by waiting for something that may not happen. He should remember that James Dolan isn't in the bidding here. Getting Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan (with his stupid contract) isn't a good return. Getting Harden & Ibaka (who's only focus if traded to the Magic would be getting max contracts) is a questionable return. I thought they wanted younger, cheaper players to build around for the future instead of high-priced 2nd-tier stars.

It's early, but my confidence in Hennigan is pretty low. He could end up being a bust of a GM. Hiring the novice Jacque Vaughn as head coach surprised me. If Michael Curry was a serious finalist for the position, Hennigan is clueless.

Hiring a novice coach might say:

    a) They're going cheap (don't want to pay a name coach, want to acquire expirings, get rid of contracts, get young players and picks, as we've all heard)
    b) They expect to suck in the near-term
    c) They're probably not after players who will soon cost them money (Harden, Ibaka)

They should trade Blake + Deandre for Dwight + filler.
Its a worthwhile trade. Blake is injured but Dwight has a more serious injury.
Chris Paul + Dwight + insanely good depth=contender.

Talent-wise, trading with Clippers or Thunder does seem more promising. But, there's no way either of those teams are taking any of Orlando's albatross contracts. And, they need to unload those to get cap flexibility to transform the roster. So, the Rockets package, assuming it includes trading for Orlando's chumps, could still be the best even if they can't offer the best talent. I suppose it depends on Houston's willingness to take on bad contracts and how Orlando values the talent vs flexibility parameters.

Im sorry but thats just dumb to think that dwights value wont be affected between now and then. The guy had back surgery. Back surgery. For a guy whose entire game is predicated on how high he jumps. Larry johnson was probably the most explosive big man in the nba until he got problems with his back and was nowhere near the same afterwards. If dwight shows the same problems when he gets back, the magic will get what they deserve for being so stupid and not trading him last season.

I wonder if the Mayan Calendar was really about Dwight Howard?

"His value is his value and will not be diminished if traded right before or during the season."

    That is just horrible math.

82 games of Dwight Howard is more valuable than 52 games of Dwight Howard.

It would have to be Harden, Ibaka, AND Perkins to make the money work. Also, Harden and Ibaka would then need to be resigned for probably max each while STILL being stuck with Rich, Turk, Baby, and Duhon...really don't see OKC as a possibility no matter how they cut it.

Dwight as a 2 month rental vs a 10 month rental is a very big difference, especially if he keeps holding free agency as a threat. Given a full year, there's a shot of winning him over. Trading for him in late February is playing with fire.

If I'm Morey, I'm not offering half of my July offer at the deadline. It would be idiotic to do so.

Magic should have moved him a year ago. They keep sitting back waiting for a godfather offer that's not going to come. They're not getting Blake, LeBron, Durant, or any other top 10 player in return. There's very few teams able to offer major cap savings and draft picks. They need to take the best offer available and move forward. No matter what they do, they won't be contenders for the next 2-3 years at minimum.

If the Clippers have a chance to trade Blake and Jordan for Dwight to team him up with CP3, its still a huge gamble because Dwight may leave during FA. Dwight Howard is a big gamble for any team unless he agrees to sign an extension. But as of now, he's just another big one year rental gamble. This is much more annoying than the Melo-drama.

Additionally the Lakers might not be in it later either. With their current roster they are in a win now mode. If they were to get off to a very good start and look like they are legit title contenders then I can't see them making a major roster move in the middle of the season.
