Ok, been playing BF1, and while it is gorgeous, I think the game play is lacking.

In response to your other thread, I don't have an issue with aiming. All infantry do look some shade of brown, so it is hard to shoot on sight alone. Best way for me is to look for signs of movement, spot, and aim at the spotted target. I keyed the spot button to my mouse thumb button so I spam it constantly. If I didn't spot the enemy prior to shooting, I find myself missing a lot ADS. The class marker above spotted enemies makes a huge difference for aiming.

The biggest lack I find is the amount of weapon customization, but this era didn't have many weapons or the attachments. But at least there are different classes and that keeps it interesting.

There are actually a ton more guns in the game than were actually available in any number in WWI. I collect WWI era guns, and 2 or 3 of the rifles in the game I'd never heard of - I had to look them up. They were guns that were made in extremely small experimental quantities - like 100 or 200 actual guns produced - that never made it out of testing.

They've stretched the realism in a whole bunch of places to make it as playable as it is. I've mentioned previously that the tanks and planes are ridiculously over-powered relative to their real world counterparts. Max speed on a Mark V was about 5 mph.

Personally, I find it a lot more entertaining than games with no basis in reality whatsoever. Of course, I'm a big fan of the ARMA games. I imagine most FPS player find them boring and slow.
