smoothie, don't underestimate how well steve nash runs that ship. artest is slower then marion but it's not like he isn't capable of running. the only slow guy you've added is shaq but they already bit the bullet on that one. if you add artest plus shaq your defense and ability to play the half-court game in the playoffs is far more valuable then any speed you just lost. on paper that team is just nasty, so rockets fans lets hope another star isn't just given away to one of our western conference competitors. can't the east get ANYBODY?
He isn't. Marion can't get his own shot like Ron. Marion can't defend big players nearly as well as Ron. This would be a sick lineup for the Suns if it actually happened.
You can't combine the TE with other players. Can you trade the TE accompanied with picks? The Suns actually own the Hawks pick this year, potentially lotto. Its unprotected. I could see the Kings jumping on that.
Last Summer, the Rockets were trying to move closer to an Uptempo (Suns?) Offense. Now, the Suns are trying to move closer to being better in a Half Court Offense.
Actually the Suns can still run and gun with Amare Artest Bell/Diaw Barbosa Nash They can switch tempo on command as Shaq will not be playing 30+ minutes a game anyways. Shaq will get 25~30 mins and play less or more depending on match ups. Artest would slide in right where Marion left off. Oh yeah, don't forget about Amare/Nash/Barbosa Bell and Diaw are VERY GOOD role players.
Isnt Artest opting out? So his salary will just expire this summer. What would the TE be good if Artest is having an expiring contract? They are probably looking for young talents and draft picks for artest, or else it would not make any sense.
They are team that is really serious about, "It's Time!" If they get Artest, who is more talented in the West?
basically its a draft pick for artest, and if things are going as it is, that pick will be >15. I'm sure there is better offers around.
Artest's defense is really top rated. Both David West & Carlos Boozer could do so little when Artest is on them. If Artest's head is straight, he should make more than Rashard Lewis.
http://www.fantasyplayers.com/nba/FeedItem.asp?FEED_ITEM_ID=18037 Kings Should Play Poker With Artest Date: 2/9/2008 12:12:12 PM Author: Stephen Litel slitel@*************** Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest has clearly stated he wants out. As the trade deadline approaches, the rumor mill is flowing with trades that send him to nearly every other team in the NBA. Yet, is it really the best idea for the future of the Sacramento Kings to trade one of their best players? Artest can opt out of his contract at the end of the 2007-08 season, so attempting to trade him seems to be the logical decision. Kings management does not want to take the risk of losing him without receiving anything in return, but the problem Sacramento finds themselves with is any trade offers given at this time will be low-ball offers. Certainly, Artest could help a push a contender into a champion if sent to the right situation, but a contending team is not going to give up a part of their already existent core and chemistry for him. The Kings may believe an Artest trade to be their ticket to rid themselves of a bad contract or two, such as those of Kenny Thomas or Shareef Abdur-Rahim, but believe this: No team in the NBA is going to let the Kings off the hook with those contracts. The Kings already have a solid core of young players in Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia, Spencer Hawes and John Salmons. Add to that the presence of a healthy Mike Bibby and veterans Brad Miller and Mikki Moore, and the Sacramento Kings have some hope for the future. Bibby's huge contract expires after the 2008-09 season and Miller's at the end of 2009-10, giving Sacramento substantial sums of money to work with in the relatively near future. This may be why the Artest situation could be one of those extremely rare times when the team should just let him walk at the conclusion of the year. There is not a trade out there that turns the Sacramento Kings into contenders this season. There are no Pau Gasol or Shaquille O'Neal sized impact for the Kings right now, so this team needs to look to the future. Because any offers made by teams interested in Artest would either include bad contracts or players at a lower level of play than Artest, the Kings will not get equal value. It is also difficult to imagine any team including a first round draft choice for him. Recent reports state the best offer for Artest at this time comes from the Denver Nuggets. If correct, they are offering Linus Kleiza and Eduardo Najera for him. Both are solid NBA players, but are not going to change the fortunes of the Kings alone. They are great role players on title contending teams, but would not lead the Kings back into prominence. Because of this, the Kings should pass. Unless a currently unknown team comes into the picture and knocks the Kings socks off with a trade offer or Denver presents them with a better offer, Artest should remain in Sac-town. It is time for Petrie to put on his best poker face and stand strong against the low-ball offers from other teams, as well as with Artest's own wishes to play elsewhere. The Kings are playing much improved basketball as of late and Artest is having another fine season individually. It would not be out of the realm of possibility Artest sees enough to want to stick around after this year if they finish the season strongly. That is, unless the Kings make a move.
who would be more talented in the league???........we're talking athleticism, toughness, experience, hunger, offensive fire power, defensive fire power,.........I'd bet money that they'd win the title if they pull this trade off........... The Spurs need to get more athletic The Lakers look fantastic, BUT Gasol isn't a great defender, and we still don't know how Bynum is going to look when he comes back...Odom is inconsitent....and outside of Kobe and Fisher no one on that team has any kind of winning experience in the post season The Hornets need depth The Rockets need to get rid of Tmac The Nuggets still don't "click" offensively, and their defense is still mediocre at best The Mavs are soft and have some old parts The Celtics still have questions concerning depth, a big man, and a backup PG The Pistons look fantastic, but will they choke come post season like they have the past couple of years The Cavs need more help around Lebron The Jazz are looking good, but would they have the fire power to stop Phoenix?
Cept the only question here is, why would the Kings want a trade with a division rival. My guess is that they would try to execute a trade to the East first.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280209009 Game notes Artest, whose benignly bizarre on-court behavior has ramped up while trade rumors have surrounded him in recent weeks, put on another strange performance against the Warriors. Besides the usual array of low-percentage shots and odd celebrations of minor achievements, he got a technical foul for pounding his chest and staring down the Warriors bench after making a steal and dunking early in the third quarter. ... Golden State has won four of five against Sacramento. Thought this was hilarious since it's an AP article.
