If I am the Pelicans, just wait until the summer, offer the super max deal. If it is declined then get the Lakers and Celtics in a bidding war and take the best asset package. Boston has the best package if everything is on the level. The only wrinkle is if AD gives the impression he won't commit to the Celtics. That will lower the asset package. Similar to the Kawhi to Toronto deal. It is pretty cut and dry. I think AD will not take the super max. And I think the Celtics will trade for AD to send him East.
Kawhi will affect AD's price if so. If he leaves Toronto then it gives more credibillity to his threats. Philly and maybe Gsw could also put great offers.
It's tampering BS that we always knew existed, and is obviously taking place to an egregious degree in Los Angeles right now. Pelicans have no one but themselves to blame though. They have had plenty of time to build a team, and if the owner had any sense whatsoever he would have fired the GM for not planning to have cap space in 2019 or contending this season. Just letting this thing happen with minor changes. It's worth mortgaging your future for AD. Hell they could have tanked one of the last few seasons.
The owner was a demented old man before he died at the age of 90 this year. So he had no sense literally. Rip
I'm not following this. PG13 talked his way out and re-upped with the OKC instead of Lakers. Butler talked his way out, and might re-up with 76ers. I don't think these guys are taking cues from each other. Kawhi and AD will make their own decisions based upon their own circumstances. One thing is for sure, they all love the game enough to play their best while in their prime...whether their mgmt/coach gives them reasons (or not enough reasons) to leave or not.
Who doesn't want Anthony Davis of the 2nd worst record in the entire Western Conference?! I mean, the guy's a stud, just look how far he's taken his team, all the way to the second worst record in the conference. But does that matter, just look at all the success he's brought to the franchise in his 7 years in the NBA. Remember that Finals run? No? Remember that Conference Finals run where he gave that one team a run for their money? No? Well, what about the MVPs? No again? Well shoot, at some point people might start saying he puts up empty stats on terrible teams without any amount of success.
Davis would be a monster in our system. It's too bad we don't have anything to trade for him. I don't care if he hasn't won much since he came to the league, because if you pair him with Harden and Paul, it's game over.
You could offer CC + EG + some 1st round picks. CC is better than any of the lakers young players. CC is averaging more points and rebounds than Tatum.
I really hope NO holds him hostage, and then in the offseason somebody does what OKC and Toronto did and make a good offer with no guarantees of him staying. Without the Lakers being able to offer the supermax, and Lebron being 36 years old, lets see if Davis is as determined to go to LA.
yssssssssssss. Capela is my favorite player currently. But Harden and Davis would be impossible to ignore.
